Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I replaced my Turbo Twist wheels with Carrera II wheels.

Suggestion
I don't know for sure the differences (if any) between 2001 and 2003, but I am running 18" Carrera III 997 takeoffs on my 2003 C2.

Suggestion
Wouldn't it be better to try and find some used Carrera II rims that fit the car without spacers?

Suggestion
I think the front axle might be more exposed to wobble with spacers and the bad thing is you're forced to use spacers with the 997 wheels.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

anyone has those on their narrow body 996?
i think i need spacer for the front, but how is the fit and handling?

The offset is the crucial factor, not the rim width. The M1 996 18 inch NB wheels were 7.5 inch (ET50) front and 10 inch rear (ET65). The MT2 996 18 inch wheels came in 8 inch front (ET50). The 996 WB rear wheels (11 inch)have a different offset (I believe ET40).
Yes, the wheels should fit and yes, you'll need spacers in the front.
The AWD 997 models are WB cars.
I agree; this is what I did. I replaced my Turbo Twist wheels with Carrera II wheels. Although I put 15mm spacers on the rear axle (no issues), I'm not foreced to do that as the offset is correct. I think the front axle might be more exposed to wobble with spacers and the bad thing is you're forced to use spacers with the 997 wheels.
I don't know for sure the differences (if any) between 2001 and 2003, but I am running 18" Carrera III 997 takeoffs on my 2003 C2. Rears fit without spacers, fronts require spacers. I bought the car with 19" Carrera Classics (19x8, 19x11), and swapped down to the 18" Carrera IIIs, keeping the spacers that were on the fronts.
With spacers the wheel fit is perfect. I have the wrong size tires on the car at the moment, though, 997 takeoff sizing, so I have very minor rubbing under heavy turning (like parking) because the overall diameter of the tire is ~1" bigger than 996 standard. If you buy just the wheels, put on the correct size tires and you shouldn't have any rubbing whatsoever.
Performance is great. It is my daily driver, and it does very well at the local autocross. Last two times out I've been the second-fastest street-stock car (lost one time to a well-driven boxster, and last time I lost to an extremely well-driven 997 C2S). I definitely picked up some time by dropping from the 19" to 18" wheels.
I also like the 5-spoke look.
Note that my avatar is still showing my 19" Carrera Classics. Haven't taken the time to get a new avatar pic.
Now I just need to scrape together some coin for the Volk TE37s I'm lusting after!
