I just bought a set of 19" carrera rims (not the lobster claws) to replace my 18" carrera II's that had been chewed up by PO's bad parking.

Suggestion
In order to have the 19x8 and 19x11's to have excact same centerline as the stock wheels as in my case Sport Classic II's we should run a 5mm in front and 3mm in back.

He also informed me that I need to use Continental 315/25/19's.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just bought a set of 19" carrera rims (not the lobster claws) to replace my 18" carrera II's that had been chewed up by PO's bad parking. I found them on fleabay for 1200, good deal?? He was asking 1600 a month ago, and now with lower price I pulled the trigger.
Any thoughts? BTW, I'm not a track or street racer., nor was I looking to bling up my old beast, I just have always thought the 19's look great filling out on the 997's
not too bad....enjoy...I find that you will need to lower the car and you will need front spacers as they sit in farther on 996s because of the offset....make sure they are from a 997 C2 or C2S, a C4 or C4S...the 997 C4/C4S wheels will not fit a 996 narrow body.
Hey Tim,
Here is a pic, they are from an 05 C2. Thanks guys for the info on needing a front spacer. Do you think the dealer will have the appropriate spacer? If not does anyone know the difference between the 2 offsets, and where I would purchase them?
Thanks
Robert
I did a bit of research, I need 7mm spacers for the front to compensate for the 997 57 mm offset, but Porsche NA only sells 5mm. I saw that HR sells the proper size for the 996 with bolts on several websites. Does anyone have any experience with a relaible aftermarket retailer?
Much appreciated.
go with 15mm spacers....
wheelenhancement.com
to match the rears which are more aggressive, i went more aggressive in the front...mine are similar to gt3 specs now....
Ok, you got the Carrera Classic wheels. I couldn't tell by your first post if you got the Carrera 5-Spoke, the Carrera III, or the Carrera Classic wheels. Nice looking!
Hello all,
I am getting these same rims and I need to clarify something. Why would you want to put 15mm spacers in front and none in the rear? In order to have the 19x8 and 19x11's to have excact same centerline as the stock wheels as in my case Sport Classic II's we should run a 5mm in front and 3mm in back. This makes the front precisely 1/4" farther inboard and outboard and in the rear exactly 1/2" father in and out. With a 19x11 67et, and no spacers the rears would stick out 3/8" more than a stock 18x10 65et. With a 15mm spacer the fronts would stick out 3/4" which is more then the rears. Please explain your reasoning.
Thank you,

huh?,,,, the new 11" 67 offset is just about right, wont stickout at all and prob with enough room with no rubbing. the front 8" offset 57 is to much tucked in, adding 7mm will make it look stock, adding 15mm will make it look like a nice match with the rear... I think you need to read up on wheels, offsets and spacers.
+1
thats exactly right...the fronts have a different offset than your front wheels. They were designed for the 997 which is slightly different than the 996.
I have read up and researched it. In fact, I spoke to Dave at Wheel Enhancement and he suggested no spacers in back and 5mm up front. He also informed me that I need to use Continental 315/25/19's. He said the Michelins in the same size will be too close in the rear.
