Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

As for your fears of the replacement engine – it sounds like lots have been replaced (it has been on my car), which means it’s a well documented procedure.
Leading evidence: 'Replace (it has been' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace (it has been' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. The car is under a warranty and I am already dreading the fact that they are replacing the engine.

I think I would’ve gone postal as my dealer uses VW as loaner cars.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am still waiting on my car. Three weeks now and the dealr insists that porsche is not sending him an engine to replace the one that sheared its shaft bolt and went into the engine for no apparent reason. Is that true? I can't imagine porsche USA saying...mmm, let us think about it. I am at the end of my patience and I wonder about my next recourse.
The car is under a warranty and I am already dreading the fact that they are replacing the engine. I imagine unexplained leaks...untorqued bolts, oh god.
It is just not fair...I should of bought a new car and forgot about the initial depreciation. My wife on the other hand thinks I am just unlucky.
I'm too new a 996 owner to give any useful insight... But, I assume, the dealer is on your side? You make it sound simple: the car is under warrantee and the engine ate the intermediate shaft for lunch on its own accord...
Is this a battle between a Porsche dealer and Porsche? Or a 3rd party shop?
As for your fears of the replacement engine – it sounds like lots have been replaced (it has been on my car), which means it’s a well documented procedure. And the engines come as a pretty complete package (alternator, AC compressor, etc) installed. So there’s not THAT much that needs hooking up…
Good luck. I hope you get it resolved soon.
To which you respond, "I must be, I married you." - my wife and I have this kind of sense of humor.
Don't sweat it, it's under warranty. There are bigger problems in life so just roll with it and try to be positive, if all else fails calmly walk into the dealership and light your car on fire.
Make them give you a courtesy car, drive the snot out of the Cayman or Boxster they give you,; I bet the time will go by faster and they will have an incentive to get your car finished....
That’s a damn shame. It took my dealer 2 days to get new “new remanufactured” engine and 8 days to complete the job. I think I would’ve gone postal as my dealer uses VW as loaner cars.
