Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Well, you're in Manchester, a place am intimately familiar with and a certain tree has the scars of my motorcycle wrapping around it....I would be running 5W50 or 15W50 in summer.
Leading evidence: 'corrected' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'corrected' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Run 5w50 or 15w50 in summer' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I bet those cars were running Mobil Water with their oil level too low.

I think 1999 use the term mobile water just to instigate.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 99' 996 that I have been bring to the track. I want to upgrade the oil pan becuase I know that the 3.4L has an oil starvation problem. I saw that Brey-Krause has an oil pan insert that adds additional oil but is this the best fix? Is there another pan setup I should look into?
Thanks
So you say that you "know that the 3.4L has an oil starvation problem"? How can you "know" that when , in fact, it does not? There are many 3.4's being tracked completely stock for years and have no oiling problems.
According to the owners manual and a couple different race shop in my area, the 3.4L in high G-corners has a design flaw that allows for oil starvation b/c of the oil pan design. This issue was corrected with the 3.6L X51 Motor setup. My race shop has seen (2) cars at the same track on different times ruin the motor from this issue.
Nick. I bet those cars were running Mobil Water with their oil level too low.
Besides, any driver that would blow their engine because of oil starvation like this would have to be ignoring oil pressure which would give them more than adequate warning or imprending shut down. If you lose pressure on the corners, consider a mod. If not, what are you gaining?
here's some recources... the oil starvation thing are from shops that are scared of changes and are one of those so called "porsche purist"

Would strongly advise a search. This has been debated to the point of violence many times. Some cleave to Porsche's recommendation. Others believe strongly otherwise. Read their respective cases, decide which sounds right, and then for the love of pete keep it to yourself. This is Rennlist's "how many angels can dance on the head of a pin" debate.
Well, you're in Manchester, a place am intimately familiar with and a certain tree has the scars of my motorcycle wrapping around it....I would be running 5W50 or 15W50 in summer. Much better protection for the looseness of the 996 engine. 15W50 is better for the track. 15W50 for summer and 5W50 winter, where you live for everyday driving.
