Demand a rider that includes a trailer, 2lbs of M&M's but have them remove all the green ones, three dozen yellow roses - no thorns, a case of Johnny Walker Blue and the fridge in the trailer should be filled with Mr.

That's cool...good info...actually I really don't care too much about the $$$, it will be interesting just to stick around and see how a movie is made....and probably a few hotties hanging around too!

I humbly submit that if he gets to hang out on set, gets a reasonable stipend for the car, and is shown proof of insurance (the production will be well insured if it's the real deal), then he's doing great if that would be fun for him.

The money really isn't the big deal here anyway, since it does not sound like they will be using your car extensively, except for still shots and maybe some slow roll-by shots.

I doubt you have a rental use or business use rider on your insurance policy; so, do not allow them to pay you, as your insurance most likely will not cover your car if you are leasing it out.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was at a restaurant today and a producer came up to me asking if they could use my car in the movie they are filiming. They just want to park it in front of a luxury home for a scene they are doing next week.
Does anyone know what the "going rate" is for something like this? They said they would pay me but don't know if I should negotiate. Of course, I will be there with it the whole time and it might be kinda fun to experience and have my P car in a movie.
Here the link to the movie:

Mr. Pib + Red Vines = crazy delicious.
A movie company borrowed my old 944 for a movie last year. They used it extensively in the film, driving in it, parking it, putting things in the trunk, etc. It was an independant film with a low budget.
They paid me $100 a day. The movie is On The Road With Judas, but it never came out in theaters.
Anyway, ask them for a sum that you feel your time and energy is worth. I would stick around and watch them film also, should be fun!

Here are a few more pics of the car when I bought it last year. These were before the additional mods I did just last week:
New black top and black rollbar covers
PSS9 Coilovers with 1" drop
New Mich Pilot Sports
Find out how much it would cost to rent an exotic vehicle in your area for one day and charge at least the same. I would think $300 minimum. I was offered $1200 to use my VW bus in a Comcast commercial, one day shoot.
Have some of those starletts pose on your car then post it on the "Please Disregard Thread"
DONT LET THEM BORROW YOUR CAR....or your next post may be...I let a xyz borrow my car and now it's totalled
I'm not giving you legal advice because I'm not licensed in North Carolina. But, let's just say I'm going to give you some advice from one P-car owner to another.
I doubt you have a rental use or business use rider on your insurance policy; so, do not allow them to pay you, as your insurance most likely will not cover your car if you are leasing it out. Instead, just allow them to borrow it. I would make sure they producer provides you with a Certificate of Insurance for the movie which names you as an "additional insured" under the policy and that the coverages listed on ther Certificate of Insurance provide coverage for damage to your vehicle while on set.
The money really isn't the big deal here anyway, since it does not sound like they will be using your car extensively, except for still shots and maybe some slow roll-by shots. The things you should negotiate for are the following:
1.) Certificate of Insurance;
2.) A credit line at the end of the film;
3.) A pass to be on set each day your car is there;
4.) A free DVD once the movie is released; and
5.) If the movie is a larger budget film, then an invitation to the premier (don't let them fly you out to the premier, just get the invitation, as the invitation itself is likely considered to be of nominal value).
This is just my $.02. Hope all goes well.
Those same people saw my car later in the day and said it was perfect for the scence. They said something about anothe P-car early in the day, but glad they ran into me later. Just kidding, good luck with the movie deal. I really like your car. I see you around Charlotte from time to time. Just the other day on Providence Rd you were turning across into the Harris Tetter shopping center and I was in my Tectite Grey Mercedes E55. I let you pull across in front in me. I have always thought you car looked sharp.

anyways......you have to check the going rental rate for a sportscar.....I think it is hard to find a porsche rental and renting a Ferrari is about 500+ per day but a F-car starts at 200K while a P-car start at 80K.
It also depends on the movie if it is a big blockbuster...you can ask 350 for car and 150 for driver....but if it is an independent movie there is a tighter budget and I think that $350 (driver and car) is a reasonable rate.
Thanks for the info, but since I'm not going to leave the car, I shouldn't have a problem with liability.
I might just settle for a dinner with one of the movie's hot babes...
LOL, wouldn't surprise if they liked your car too...looks sweet! Maybe we should get a "group rate"?
Thanks for letting me in the day...I think I remember that...that turn is always a bitch there.
We should get together sometime for a Sunday morning ride through the country out that way.
P.S. Would love to see more pics of your car....I too have the black top and rollbar covers now, and love the way it looks as opposed to the grey.
You're dreaming. Do you have any idea how many individual little deals a production company has to make to get a movie shot? I think they'd walk by demand number 2 or thereabouts. Seriously, no disrespect intended, but I've been around a lot of film production. We get less grief than this renting entire homes. Last January, I shut down Rodeo Drive for four hours and then the PCH for three 6 hour days with less hassle than you propose here. I humbly submit that if he gets to hang out on set, gets a reasonable stipend for the car, and is shown proof of insurance (the production will be well insured if it's the real deal), then he's doing great if that would be fun for him.
I think your are correct- I manage a dealership and discovery channel wanted a car donated and then said that they would pay only if they had to- not what I thought how it would work. Oh well- the fame is worth it anyway
you shouldn't worry so much of how much you will get paid this first time but that you might be able to make some contacts for future dealings. Ask the guy who approached you if he might refer you to others in the industry, get business cards or make your own and pass them out with your car's pic on there.
I rented a 993cab in Vegas about 4-5 years ago. It was about $350 a day with 100 miles only per day. Blast.....
I rented a f355spider about 2 years ago in Vegas and it was about $700 a day but that included insurance (mandatory). BTW-Ferrari 355 sucked. Reminded me of a mid 80's Mustang GT convertable. Fast, loud and lots of Torque but horrible brakes (when ever you hard brake you are praying they hold-faded very quickly) and handling (scary). Also, a lot of body movement over bumps and corners. It was also very hot in that the engine put out a lot of heat into the open passenger cabin. The interior was cheap. A lot plastic, fiat switches, and cheap and thin leather which was already spitting at the seams. There was a light that would switch on whenever you hit it to hard or went over a bump. The light was a warning light that would tell you are about to loose it (pre stability management days, no correction, but a warning). My buddy was of the opinion that it had probably been totaled, rebuilt for rentals. Sounds plausable. Especially upon return, I noticed a f430 that had side swiped a pole on their lot with the auction details still on the window.
When I complained and returned the car early (got some money back) they guy basically said that I was spoiled by the ride in my porsche.
I rented a boxter in Vegas about 6 years ago and it was about $220 a day. Also, a lot of fun to drive.
Drop me a PM with your email and I'll send you some extra pictures. I just had my top replaced and did a tinted back window. I agree with you that the black top and roll bar looks better than the gray. It gives the car contrast. Don't you also have a hardtop for your car? I need to get one of those. I have seen your car many times coming home from uptown on Providence Rd. I treid to race you a couple times in my E55. Nothing personal, I try to race everyone in that thing. I bought my Porsche because I saw your and really thought it was a great and fun looking car. See ya around town.

I agree with Bruce! I loaned my CLK to a film production company once after they promised they wouldn't drive the car. They just wanted one of the leads to get out of it. All I got for it was lunch on set with the cast and a big kiss from one of the stars/producers... oh, yeah BTW she's my wife and she asked me to detail the car before I brought it to set! Didn't make any $ since I was also an investor in the film...but that's another story.
Moral of the story is; low budget indy films are financed on a shoe string and a prayer so contracts with riders are not usually part of the process. If you've never been on set before, do it for the experience...everything is fun once!
Let's make that a three way Chrlotte drive... 3 seal gray cabs racing around town... nice!!
By the way... will throw my car in for dinner with the chick!
