Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
I had just bought the car and it was due to a bad valve stem, but the first tire location fixed the flat and the stem but warned if the sidewall bubbles during repair it is worthless!
Leading evidence: 'valve stem' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'valve stem' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair should be fine' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
I'd say, if you drive a lot at high speeds and at a track, I would replace but just commuting, the repair should be fine.

Suggestion
If you drove on it completely flat, you should replace the tire.

It's amazing how much money it costs to run over a tiny little nail.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 996 with 19" (997) wheels. I drove to work the other day (about five miles) and it turns out I had a flat, probably most of the way there. I noticed there was a little nail in the center of the tire, which presumably caused the flat. So anyway, I put the spare on, and now I'm wondering what to do about it.
I talked to a local non-Porsche mechanic and he says to just bring it in and we'll patch up the tire, rebalance it, and it'll be good as new. Then I talked to the dealership and they said the tire is probably ruined from driving on it while flat. Of course this means I'd have to get brand new rear tires, even though they only have 5k miles on them!
Also, could my wheel be ruined too?
Any guidance would be much appreciated. It's amazing how much money it costs to run over a tiny little nail.

have it fixed, install it and keep an eye on it. it may still be good. i doubt if its ruined. carry a compressor w/you, that way you dont have to swap tires, just pump it up. unless you have a blow out.
If the tire was completely flat the wheel edges can damage the belts and the tire should be replaced. If there was still some pressure in the tire you should be able to repair it. If it was completely flat I think you would have noticed it in the handling in a very short distance.
had something similar happen-needed to replace it do to some rubber on the inside got rubbed off and compromised the side walls. when you take the tire off you'll be able to see if it happned to you or not.
I had the exact similar experience because I was unaware of my flat. Since the sidewall was worn, it could have significantly reduced the integrity of the tire. I had just bought the car and it was due to a bad valve stem, but the first tire location fixed the flat and the stem but warned if the sidewall bubbles during repair it is worthless! It did not bubble and rode fine for another week until the dealership paid for a new tire. It was my back up if either front blew until I bought my 19's!
