Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Install cargraphic exhaust' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install cargraphic exhaust' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Suggestion
Not familiar with those, but will be doing a custom tune soon using FVD there is not any extra hardware inline with the ECU for tune.

if you want a CAI just use a K&N panel filter and nothing more than that....
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm ready to "do the flash", but, a lot of reference is made to "Giac" on this board and sometimes "Powerchip".
In "Excellence" magazine this month, I noticed 2 other companies that advertise and claim the same improvements, one is called Upsolute and the other is called Revotechnic.
Does anyone have any experience with either, good or bad?
GIAC, REVO and UPSOLUTE are alll A1 companies.... but id stick with GIAC and REVO, had a bad experiance with Upsolute with my 1.8T, wen with GIAC and then REVO came out....
no you don't...... the flash will work with all the stock components... if you want a CAI just use a K&N panel filter and nothing more than that.... if you install exhaust and headers/cats... your GIAC ecu will adapt to those parts....
If you flash with stock... you wont notice much, but will work... never said it wouldnt. Hence not worth the $1k
If you flash with CAI and exhaust, you will notice a greater improvement hence maximizing performance with the new mapping , worth the $1k
Actually guys, you may be misinterpreting my intentions.
I do actually have CAI and headers/exhaust mod. My goal is to make the car more driveable at lower rpm's.
As it is now, it goes like a banshee from 4000 rpm and up but feels like my Acura under that.
I don't always want to have to "rev" it to get a buzz and my understanding of re-mapping the ECU smooths out the torque and horsepower band over a wider rpm.
If I get a few more horsepower, I certainly won't complain but I am really looking for more lower end kick without going back to regualr exhaust and intake.
I feel that the equal lenght headers steel the most low end torque (<3k RPM). Not sure if I could say that my exhaust or the CAI had much influence in the low RPM range (but the better sound from the exhaust).
Not having driven a 'chipped' 996, I can't be specific. But I can tell you that the parameters available to someone who's writing new maps allow SOME improvement in low-rpm driveability, mostly by messing with the mixture. But if you want your low end grunt back, lose the headers. With all due respect to those who believe otherwise, 'performance' headers very specifically trade high end power for low end torque. The power gains they offer are real, and probably bigger than with most bolt ons, but it comes at a price. There's no way to completely reverse the effect without removing the headers.
lol bro i got bad news... Chiping give me better Top-End and you lose Top End, its intended more for the Track since you up in teh revs... if you doign this for Street driving... dnt do it.... Headers and Chiping you lose Low-End power... sorry
if you want more Low-End power, get a TT
look fellas hairsplit all you want and speculate about what you're gonna gain or not gain whether you combine the chip with header, exhaust, martini glasses whatever.
i have the evoms/giac/pse combo and for a bit, i went back to the stock mapping. i didn't notice one lick of diff in power and feel of the car. this is the butt dyno and i have a small **** . if i could tell the diff, it'd be right around 25hp... anything in the 5-10 hp range is negligible/nominal/insert your own word here.
so again, unless you got $1K to blow don't just chip it and think you're going to feel mad power. u won't be overtaking any Turbos anytime soon.
enjoy your normally aspirated power as it came from the factory. i am, chipped or not. else, put your hard earned $1K into your new car upgrade fund.
Last time I 'chipped' a car, I didn't do it for power. I did it because it improved driveability on that particular car. Manufacturers have to serve all kinds of masters when they're mapping what happens when you put your foot on the gas, and one of them is emissions. Tip-in in particular is a moment when a car can spew out noxious stuff, so they tinker with timing and mixture to minimize this at that throttle position, even though it hurts responsiveness. Some chips on some cars make the car more driveable in the real world on real fuel. I agree that gains are minimal if they exist at all. But power gains aren't the only reason to chip.
I chipped my 03C4S and it felt very soft in the low rpm's.I ended up going back to stock.Giac offers a 30 day moneyback guaranty and Revo has a 5hr free trial.
I just installed the following two days ago:
EVOMS CAI
RSS Plenum
Revo Chip
I had already installed a Cargraphic exhaust. I've only driven the car ~100 miles but my feel is that this combination makes a real noticeable (positive) difference to throttle response and nicely flattens out the power band. Everything about power delivery now feels much smoother and a bit stronger. Nothing earth shattering but to me it was worth the $$$. In the future I may add to the package by installing Cargraphic high-flow Cat's .
