Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking at a potential purchase of a Polar Silver C2 and it will probably need to have the bumper resprayed to remove the normal chips. Has anyone had any issues with paint match of Polar Silver? I know it was an optional paint but is it any harder than say Artic Silver to match color? Thanks. Keith

POST 2Original post

Paint companies only need the paint code which is found under the front hood, should be perfect match. I did mine which is Basalt Black and I was worried too about matching. It came out perfect. Same hue, shade, and metallic content as the factory, it was not the factory paint brand though.

POST 3Original post

Metallic paint has to be layed down properly or it will appear a different shade. Many light colors come from the factory mismatched, including Porsche. Color may be exact but will appear substantially darker or lighter if sprayed at the wrong angle.

POST 4Original post

it's not some magic color from the land of OZ - any competent body shop should be able to match it just fine

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the feedback. I've had other silver cars painted before without problem. I wasn't familiar with Polar Silver and whether it had any unique characteristics. Thanks. Keith

POST 6Original post

Polar Silver is hard to match, but a competent body shop should be able to do it.

POST 7Original post

I had a bumper resprayed on a Polar Silver car and it was perfect - none of my carnut friends were able to pick it out. Get a good shop, and then hold them to a high standard. Bumpers get scratched all the time, it's no big deal.

POST 8Original post

Along the same line, has any one used an air brush to fix rock chips on any of the Silvers to help get the color to match better? (You'd still need to tape it off, sand it down & rub it out....but it might match better than the applicators.)

POST 9Original post

it's do able... get a good paint shop though... it sucks to cheap the labor then you'll really know why they are cheaper.....
