This is not a probability of success.

i was hoping the findanza worked out because it was the best priced flywheel for the 996

The 3.4 and 3.6 996s use the 8 bolt flywheel like the AASCO unit.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anyone had any experience with the AASCO or Fidanza flywheels for 996? I have a couple of customer requesting them. there are OEM flywheels for the 997 and 993, but not 996.
i have the aasco until.. fits perfectly. the fidanza is not offered for the 996. i ordered one that was advertised as fitting the 996. turns out the fidanza unit has 9 crank bolt holes where the 996 has only 8 bolt holes.
I have the AASCO it rattles when in neutral with your foot off the clutch, especially so when the AC is running.
As far as for performance it's been working great.
Interesting! I was on the phone with Fidanza today, and the lad on the other end of the phone ASSURED me their flywheel fits! hmmm think this needs some looking into!
hmm... just count the number of holes. if he can ASSURE you that it 8 holes then you are good to go. i was hoping the findanza worked out because it was the best priced flywheel for the 996
Isn't the 9-hole Aasco flywheel for the 3.4l engine cars (99-01) and the Fidenza 8-hole flywheel for the 3.6l engine cars (02-04)?

8 hole for all non turbo / GT cars. Doesn't matter what year 996. I have the AASCO and love it. Totally took out that squishy, non-linear clutch engagement that repeatedly made me feel like a non-driving teenage idiot who just stole Dad's car (which I probably could have been 20++ years ago). Rattle is there to some extent when in neutral with the clutch pedal up, but really not bad. As mentioned, it is slighlty more obvious when the A/C is running. Would do it again in a skinny minute.

The 3.4 and 3.6 996s use the 8 bolt flywheel like the AASCO unit. I am holding my invoice in front of my for an AASCO LWFW from FVD with notes on it that the unit that came out of my car had 8 bolts on it. The 9 bolt unit from Fidanza doesn't fit the 3.4 or 3.6 996 cars (non GT non TT).
I believe that Sachs has a clutch disc with a spring arrrangement in the center that may be a little quieter and provide a more genteel engagment,
regards
Paul996 is totally right. I mis-typed 9 instead of 8. The 3.4 and 3.6 non-TT/GT cars use the same block versus the TT/GT cars which have a 993 derivative block.
