Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

A $120,000 car that sells at the end of the 10 year period for $60,000 costs more than $1.60/mile using the same assumptions.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Fooling around with spreadsheets tonight (yeah, I'm a geek).
In the 6 months, 8 days I've had my 996:
I've driven 1784 miles, for a projected annual mileage of 3391 miles (yeah, I don't drive much - I can bike to work most days).
I've put in 112.192 gallons of gas, at an average price of $3.147 / gallon, for a total of $351.12.
Mileage has averaged 17.60 mpg, with a high of 25.93 mpg and a low of 14.06 mpg.
Avg fuel cost per mile is 20 cents.

i love numbers and stats like that myself - are you a lefty by any chance?
Trying to refrain from correcting redrigde's post, but I am a geek too I guess. Cannot help myself:
your=yours
you're=you are
Yes, I'm a geek, and I admit it. Heck, being a geek has given my wife and I decent careers over the years.
I didn't include maintenance yet for the simple reason I've only had the car 6 months, it had it's 30k just prior to me getting it, and so maintenance has been
minimal. I' suppose I'll add it in at some point when I've had the car long enough.
Of course, to do it completely right you'd have 5 categories of cost, direct and indirect:
Fuel
Maintenance
Insurance
Depreciation
Modification costs
Depreciation being the hardest since it's a bit nebulous. I'm guess if not 70 cents a mile at least north of 50 cents a mile.. of course, we don't buy these cars for economy..

I think I've got you beat. My 996 costs per mile.
Gas $1.40 (5 mpg at $7/gal.)
Oil $0.20 (Oil change every 500 miles)
Engine $2.50 ($25k rebuild at 100 hrs)
Tires $3.60 ($1800/500 miles)
Insurance $0 (see, it's not all bad)
The bad news is at an average of over 100 mph those costs add up pretty fast.
As the joke goes "Which part of Porsche racing did you think would be cheap? The Porsche, or the racing?" My girlfriend is in the habit of quoting that one to me...
All-in cost per mile, from highest to lowest:
Ex-wife.
Horse.
Bikes.
Porsche.
Land Rover.
All-in absolute cost, from highest to lowest:

Draw from this what conclusions you wil.
For the average street driver, an $80,000 car driven 10,000 miles per year and is owned for 10 years and sold for $40,000 (which is very, very generous) at the end of the period, costs more than $1.20 per mile for the 100,000 miles. The cost of gas is less than 20% of the total cost. This does not include any mods or out of pocket repairs other than tires, brakes and clutch but does include the cost of funds at 5%. (also very generous).
A $120,000 car that sells at the end of the 10 year period for $60,000 costs more than $1.60/mile using the same assumptions.
No, not at all. Too many years ago for that. I just find it can be good for a cheap laugh, which I am not above.
Even my current wife, who is an angel, tolerates a certain amount of ex-wife slagging, as long as it's funny.
Glad to hear....I myself have been happily married for 24 years.....she is only 43, turning 44 later this year...and she was the one who encouraged me to purchase the 911....I wanted a Vette....she is a lot smarter then I....

+1 on your estimate! I bought a new M3 in 2002 for $55k(taxes, title, everything). Sold at 42,000 miles for $32k. When I added property tax, insurance, what little maintance I paid with BMW's "bumper to bumper", and gas I was right over $1 per mile.
And I thought I was making money on milage on my expense report
My depreciation has finally got to a buck a mile........... I had to put 105,000 miles on it to get there.
Now add gas, insurance, mods, maintenance and repairs, I am prolly still at $1.40 a mile.
