Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Cleaned up the cars today and the light was good, so I decided to take a few pics. Most recent interior upgrade is the alumalook AC souround I scored off ebay for 120. You guys think it is too gaudy? Because I'm bored, here's a list of the mods I have performed (all others were done by the previous owner). I did all these mods myself, and have really had a good time doing them.
Exterior:
1. silver carrera emblem
2. colored crest wheel caps
3. diy painted calipers with porsche lettering
4. amberectomy (removal of amber lense from headlights using soldering iron)
5. 15mm h&r spacers (really like this mod...just perfect...have 7mm spacers for the front, but they cuased a bit of a wobble at speed)
Engine/performance:
1. K & N flat panel air filter
2. RSS plenum
3. MKII exhaust can modification
4. carbon fiber strut brace (front...wow, what a difference
Interior:
1. Artic silver center console
2. artic silver side airbag insignia (swiped from my boxster s before I sold it)
3. silver hand brake button (also thanks to the boxster s)
4. diy painted dash strips (used walmart paint and it turned out great!)
5. ac surround (nice ebay find)
6. in-dash cup-holder (good deal from sunset porsche, the install took way longer than it should have!)
7. bumper plugs trim rings
8. Key surround artic silver (diy...not holding up so well)
DIY repairs/maintenance:
1. coolant tank replacement
2. window regulator replacement (actually not too hard to do)
3. fuel filter replacement (not too easy a job on a tiptronic!)
4. brake pad and rotor replacement (easy)
5. serpentine belt replacement
6. several oil/oil filter changes (approx. every 7k miles due to high dust AZ environment
7. mass air flow sensor replacement (after failed experiment with K & N air intake!)
I'm sure I'm missing a few, but these are the ones that come to mind
I'm excited about the next mods. Just purchased an oem MKI aerokit bumper, and plan to purchase the oem MKI skirts and Mashaw taco wing in the next few days. I've also purchased a three spoke steering wheel...just waiting for a good deal on an airbag so I can install.
Sorry for the rambling post, just thought I'd share. I love this freaking car, and hope to be driving it well past 200k miles (currently 74,000)! Happy motoring, Scott.
yup. that's kind of the point. this was not a heavily optioned car new. I'm basically adding factory options that I like. That's also the reason I'm going with factory-look aero bits, and have not yet felt compelled to add 22-inch deep dish, chrome lip spinners.
Riad, yeah, I absolutely HATE that wheel. In the past 4 years I went from a 98 boxster with a four spoke, to an 01 Boxster S witht the three spoke, and then back to the four spoke in my 99. Going from the three spoke to a four spoke again was just awful. I can't wait to install my 3-spoke that has been sitting in my closet. Just need to find a good deal on a used three-spoke airbag!
Scott, the car looks fantastic. I love the tasteful arctic silver interior mods. The red calipers look great with your exterior color. If you don't mind, I would really like to ask you a few questions on the phone before I start removing fragile dashboard pieces.....I have a knack for breaking plastic parts. Thanks for posting the great pictures and sharing the mods.
I'm hoping to upgrade to a leather dash and maybe call Eric at Bumperplugs to try some body colored interior pieces on the new project.
I can't wait to see the mk1 aerokit on your car, it will look fantastic. It's my favorite also.
Very nice looking car. It's refreshing to see people post pics of their cars without big wings, sideskirts, ect.... Not that there's anything wrong with that mind you. Thanks for the pics, if anything, let's see some more.
Thanks for the compliments guys. I'll be sure to post pics after the body parts get installed.
Jaunkimalo, I don't have any pics of the dash strip removal, and although getting them off was not exactly easy, it was not really that hard either. There is a great thread on renntech concerning removal of the strips (don't believe the guys that say only small-handed contortionists can get the strips off without breaking them...I'm 6'4", am not flexible, and I had them off in a little more than an hour and a half).
Mark, I'd be happy to chat with you any time. (I'll send you a pm just in case you no longer have my cnotact info).
Thanks Scott
I read a few times the renntech dash strips DIY, and thought that perhaps it would be another easy way to remove then.
I like people like you, proud to show your pretty car
