I double checked the ebay prices, and Imagine still offers the lowest price for both the C2 and C4/C4S.

I'm in for my brother-in-law if you can get $1500 for a set for a 2002 C4S.

I paid that much a year ago for a used set from another Rennlister.

I bought a set for my street C2 last year from CDOC for just over 1800 so it surprises me.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Like the subject states, anybody interested in a group buy for a PSS9 kit for either the c2, c4, or c4s? This is a feeler, but I want to get the ball rolling.
Anybody?
Vince
I would be interested. This place on Ebay (
www.bimmerparts.com
)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PORSC...spagenameZWDVW
offers them all the time with a starting bid of $1,793 and a Buy it Now of $1,863, shipping of $60 for a C4 which is a little less than the cost for a C2, the C2 are $1,900 with a Buy it Now of $2,000.
Maybe if you approached them with a group buy you could get them to knock off $200-$300 off each type. Give it a try.
I'm not sure why you would talk to someplace off ebay when you've got Rennlist sponsors like CDOC that sell them at a very good price. I'm sure they would be happy to work with you.
+1... set for C4S is slightly more expensive... what kind of deal are we looking at and how guaranteed are we that the seller won't take the money and run?
I appreciate sponsors but CDOC is asking full list price ($2,915 for the C2 and $2,679 for the C4). That is a big difference and the highest prices I have seen. To get to the target price people here are talking about ($1,500) they are going to have to offer almost 50% off the C2 package. You don't need to go to ebay, they are available from numerous on-line vendors for the buy it now price that the ebay auction offers.
If a sponsor will be competitive I am all for it. However, how many of the group buyers will pay $100+ more to buy from a sponsor? Lets see what the response is.
Guys, I'm gonna start shopping for a sponsor. I will contact everyone who is interested to get a list of names together. $1500 will be tough though. But if we can get 5 to 10 serious buyers, we will have some leverage to work with.
Please PM with your name and email and I'll get the ball rolling on this one.
Vince.
In at or a around $1500, pm sent
To make the offer more attractive, why not solicit orders from the Boxster, 997, 987, and TT boards?
A potential order of 20-30 sets may get the attention of a Bilstein WD, otherwise I think the target price may be unrealistic.
Screamleons,
Just sent it to the email address above. Let me know if you still did not receive.
Note: Location of the PSS9 source is also important. It would be more favorable for those that live in CA if the source is from out of California (no tax).
i was looking around trying to find a cheap vendor and found the dpsmotorsports has the pss9 for $1,995. im pretty sure they would be willing to drop to 1500 or more. o and yeah im not associated with dps in anyway i was just looking at a bunch of vendors and noticed that they are inexpansive. just noticed awe isn't price bad either

PM's replied. According to this thread there are 18 rennlisters that are interested in getting a PSS9 kit. The price has not been finalized yet and I will be shopping for a vendor this week.
If you are a vendor/sponsor and are interested in offering this group buy, please email me at

w/ your best price and required number of buyers. I have a complete list of customers for you.
If you are a buyer, please PM or email your info, year and model so I can add you to the list. Even if you are a "probably", I can add you to the list. The more we have the better price we should get.
Once I get a price, I will post it here.
Thanks.
No promises on the price of $1500, but we are at 20 interested rennlisters! We should have some pretty good bargaining power if everyone is on board. Again, PM me with your car's year and model and contact info. I will add you to the list.
Holy Smokes....$1500? I paid that much a year ago for a used set from another Rennlister. That's a fantastic price ......if you can get it. Great buy at that price.
Just wanted to update everybody. It seems that the US does not have enough PSS9 kits to supply the 996 C2 at the moment. From what I understand, we can secure 6 kits for C2. A Rennlist sponsor has made an initial offer of $1965 for the C2 kits and will be contacting me today for prices on the TT, C4 and C4S, which are readily available. He will also double check to see if he can do better than $1965 for the C2.
If you guys have any recommendations on who else I should contact please let me know.
$1965 is slightly higher considering that one eBay seller has them for $1800.
However, $1965 is slightly lower than the typical $2100 avg price.

I already have them on my 993tt. Love them.
I'm in for my brother-in-law if you can get $1500 for a set for a 2002 C4S.
Guys, Imagine Auto will be offering the PSS9 group buy.
C4 & C4S Owners - We need a minimum of 5 buyers and the kits will be offered at $1750
C2 Owners - We need minimum of 8 buyers and the kit will be offered at $1940.
I have taken the following things into consideration when shopping for a seller.
1) Someone who is reliable and more importantly credible. Imagine Auto has offered a lot of support on both this forum and others. They are also a Rennlist sponsor.
2) Someone who meets the first requirement and can offer the best price. I was a bit reluctant to go with a seller on ebay. Imagine Auto has offered the best price so far and I would not hesitate to do business with them.
3) Someone who will be able to answer any questions related to the PSS9 kit in regards to both functionality and installation. Imagine Auto is a regular on Rennlist, and I felt they would be qualified to offer "after the sale" support.
I double checked the ebay prices, and Imagine still offers the lowest price for both the C2 and C4/C4S.
I received a couple requests to add the 993TT and the 996TT and will organize one for you guys if there is enough interest.
I have a list of 26 interested Rennlisters right now. If you are serious about picking up a set of PSS9s, please send me an email at

. PMs are also fine. I would like to trim the list down to those that are ready to pull the trigger.
Thanks.
Vince
I seriously doubt that you will be able to find anyone who is able or willing to sell them for $1,500 IMO. The cost is probably that or higher.
I would have held off purchasing the M030 kit if I had a chance to get a set of PSS9 for $1,500. I m happy with the upgrade from the USA standard suspension. I think the sway bars that come with the M030 kit contributes significantly to the improved handling and think it would be needed to complement the PSS9 system.
Good luck and keep trying.
I was the one who brought up the 1500 price...
I didnt claim that it was a serious price that could be reached, I was just simply stating at what price I would be in for. It was a reach and I thought that was obvious by the smiley after the statement.
Don't get too hung up on the 1500 price people!
Q's: Don't want to hijack this but I am on the PSS9 list and need to pull the trigger for Screameleons or get off the list, so, although I would like to try the track once in a while, I don't foresee that as a regular event for the near future - I do, however, enjoy a spirited drive, but most of the time I'm driving around town or to dinner.
With that said, what's the recommendation if I want to replace my original 66k mile suspension - (1) Stock; (2) MO30; (3) PSS9 ?
TIA
+1 for that question at 76k miles. For reference, Carnewal want ~US$1300 for Euro M030, but I think you can shave up to ~$150 off that with Sunset or Suncoast.
Agreed.
I expected in the $1800 range. BTW, I paid $1900 for me 993tt set a year ago.
I seriously doubt anyone here really believed they were going to get the PSS9 for $1500. However, this thread seem to take off so well that all hope for the best and added their request. Thx for your input anyway.
BTW, thx to screameleons for your efforts.
For a 996 C2 I have seen a published MFSR price of around $2900. It seems like there are very few of these kits sold and to stimulate interest it looks like Bilstein dealers are being price ****** and selling for very small margins. The Ebay price on this kit is $2000.00 and with Ebay fees, paypal fees, etc. the dealer is most likely making 5% or even less. At $1940.00 the sponsor that offered that price is most likely doing us a favor and paring his already slim margin, but a 3% savings over an everyday Ebay price is not enough to make me want to but it right now.
Stock and M030 are good choices if you have a worn suspension. It will make a world of a difference since most stock suspension shows wear with as little as 15K miles. And age is a factor also.
But IMHO, the PSS9s are probaly the way to go because:
1. Bilstein is a respected suspension company
2. PSS9s have a lifetime warranty
3. All Bilstein shocks can be rebuilt
4. Adjustibility of the PSS9s
To ship 4 PSS9 shocks with UPS ground (68 pounds) from Virginia to Massachusetts cost me $35 and from Massachusetts to Bilstein in California was $58 +$2 fuel surcharge + insurance.
Hehehehe,my dad pulled the trigger on a 00' 996 C2 today and I had already called Sunset about the RoW 030 kit for his C2.......Only $975.55(California pricing) + $30 for shipping! It would take 6 weeks just for them to receive the kit from Germany then another week for them to ship to me.
After doing some research on the C2 kits, it seems like the supply in the US is the biggest issue right now. The laws of supply and demand are probably at work. For the C4 and C4s kits the prices are still under $1800. It seems like the PSS9 kits are still the best choice for a combo of street and track performance.
Having said that, are there any alternative coilover kits that you guys are interested in for the C2? Lets get another one going for something that is a bit more affordable and readily available for the C2.
Guys, a couple of Rennlisters have stepped up and helped out with getting the lowest price. As of right now, the C2 Kits are $1840. We need a minimum of 5 buyers!
The C4 Kits are $1685.
Again prices do not include shipping.
Screameleons, AKA Vincent,
you've had your PSS9s for close to 6 months now and addressed all the installation issues. What is your take on doing the mod? Have you played around with different dampening and ride heights? Do you have stock sway bars? Did this eliminate a lot of the pushing?
Tia, Nick
I love them. I also have some 19" wheels so the car looks pretty cool. I solved the noise by raising the ride height. I have mine on the stiffest settings, but started on the softer side.
I think the 996 looks much better without the gap in the wheel well. The car was always great at handling, but now its much more aggressive.
IMHO, they are well worth the money. I actually paid a lot more for my set than $1840 though.
Here are some pics:
There is one going on on 6speedonline. Price on C2 are more expensive is because demand is higher for those
