I know this is an old article, but that sounds like way less than I was expecting to pay for the same service on my C4--the engine was replaced (RMS issue) recently.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I came across this article while searching Car and Driver's web site. The article is older(written in May 2001) however I thought it would be of interest to some of you. What I found particularly interesting about the test was just how much quicker the car became after it was driven for 40,000 miles. I am not surprised that the car accelerated faster after it was broken in but the extent to which it became faster is pretty startling. I found it kind of funny though that they listed tire change intervals as being every 20,000 miles and brake pad replacement intervals as being 100,000 miles. I vaguely recall reading that article in the magazine years back. They seem to think that $629 is a lot of money for the 30k mile service. I know this is an old article, but that sounds like way less than I was expecting to pay for the same service on my C4--the engine was replaced (RMS issue) recently. Oh, and I found it interesting that the 0-150 mph time was over eight seconds faster with 40k miles on the car. I'd like to think that's insane, but test conditions could have varied, I suppose.

POST 3Original post

Thanks for that - it was a good read. I have 34k now and want to get to 40k to see if its faster I also thought this was interesting: Gasoline (@ $1.63 per gallon).....$3131 -my how times change!

POST 4Original post

I guess I'm interested as well. I've got 37K on my 99 and have a few mods to it. Faster is always nice. Someone once told me "better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it" Time will tell...

POST 5Original post

having 41,000+ miles I can definitely say my car is faster....
