Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have learned a lot from this forum and this being my first post, I wanted to ask you good folks for some help in deciding to buy a 1999 Black cabriolet. The car has 75k on it, good condition inside and out, no RMS issues that I know of, is lot leaking oil from visual inspection and has service records from Carfax report. The car is bare bone (no extra options) black on black, aftermarket Eclipse radio head unit, 2002 18" 5 spoke wheels with Michelin Pilot's which was installed by owner. The lights are of amber style even though I like the clear ones, no HID's as it was an option from what I have learned. It is a two owner car, seller is asking $28,900 which I believe is too much for the mileage. I offered $27k. Owning two BMW M cars, this will be my first Porsche so I want to make the right decision. I have looked at some 993's but a decent example is hard to come by and maintenance cost over the 996 is of concern. The car will be driven mostly on weekends here and there. Would appreciate any advice anyone can give me on this particular vehicle. My gut tells me to find an lower mileage vehicle for several thousand $ more. Thank you in advance. Mo Fares

POST 2Original post

sounds good to me. 27K would be a good deal for a cab.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I figured that was a reasonable offer. I do not think he will budge so I will move on until another comes up in the DC area. Thanks for your input.

POST 5Original post

yeah....I think 30k is fair if its in good condition.....

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I will look at it again this weekend. They will offerme $25k for my 2000 M5 trade-in with 72k as I have advertised and not many interest. The car is immaculate. Anyone looking for a Le Mans Blue M5 in the DCA area?

POST 7Original post

Not looking for an M5, but good luck with the cab. Love to see some pics. Is it posted anywhere. Welcome BTW.

POST 8Original post

DO A PPI...........but for the price.. .it seems pretty fair... although if you can get it lower by all means......gl on the M5
