Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Great catch!! Updated thank you!!

POST 5Original post

Is that the best sound clip? Anything from inside the car at WOT?

POST 6Original post

I have this exhaust on my 996 with cross over cats and ceramic coated headers. It is certainly loud. There is drone between 2-2700 rpm. Above 3k especially when accelerating it does sound glorious. My car is just a commuter and not a track car. I haven't felt any extra power so I would guess that is only in the upper reaches of the rpm range. One side effect to the noise is it forces me to keep it above 3k rpm's. I never had the fister mod to compare. If I get a chance I might be able to come up with an interior recording. For reference I have to keep the factory radio at +4-5 on the volume to hear it over the exhaust. Conversation takes a bit louder talking that normal and at certain rpm's if you aren't facing the passenger a bit they won't hear you talk.

POST 7Original post

I never had any drone when I had Maxflo in my 996 with 200 cell cats so its surprising to me you have it....what are the cross over cats you are using. Prior to Maxflo I did have FS super cups which did drone for me in the 2500-3000 range....with those I had the same problem....always drove above 3K. Never though with Maxflo….I feel its a great street/track compromise for that reason.

POST 8Original post

You are correct. Just checked my old order stuff and I do have the SuperCup exhaust. Guess I need to keep better track of my purchases

POST 10Original post

I currently have a Dundon Custom Exhaust for my car but I built it primarily for the track which sounds awesome and Loud! However, if I would make the car more of a daily driver/street I would go back to Maxflo. I have tried many exhaust systems and they don't **** my wife (and the neighbors) off in the morning. They sound reasonable, are lighter, and maybe give a bit of power. It is a good product...But as you know sound is a personal preference so you have to experiment.

Here is a video (sorry for the quality, customer video) You Tube Here is another video of high speed passes with the Maxflo You Tube The Maxflo is way more of a daily driver system, gives you the exhaust tone that the car should have sounded like. Take a look and let me know what you think!!!

I think that customer has a pretty bad low rpm knock and may want to have his engine borescoped.

POST 14Original post

I have the Supercup system on my 99' and could not be happier. The quality is great, and the attention to detail on the system including the packaging was beyond normal product purchasing. The sound is what you expect from a sports car, the idle and day to day driving has a fantastic sound, when you lay into the throttle, everyone knows it. It is definitely louder than the Maxflo, but not straight pipe loud.

Here are some more sound clips of a customer's 996 that came in for Maxflo Mufflers and Sport Headers! Truly the best combination for power and sound gains! What are your must-have mods? You Tube

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking forward to having another 996 come in this week! By far, one of our all-time favorites

POST 17Original post

As of right now an install. However, we are always open to further developing products that the community feels would be beneficial. Anything in particular that you would like us to take a look at?

POST 20Original post

Quotes source post: 17425678

Yes !!! A set of stock location cat deletes that place the largest flow through mufflers that can be fit in the space allowed. The J Muffler delete pipes with mini mufflers integrated... I rigged some of these up to squeak by sound at the track but think they could be good for someone looking to add just another little bit of noise reduction to an otherwise muffler less, or Cat less exhaust. Exhaust turn down tips... again, for temporary track sound mitigation. Think thats it for now !

POST 21Original post

Fab speed... just to highlight what you guys could do 100X better than I can... This setup with stock cats was good enough to make sound at a 95DB day. So... if I could pair cat deletes that had mufflers in place of the cats that did as good a job managing the sound as the cats did paired with a set of muffler deletes with mini mufflers installed... pickup a big chunk of power from the cat deletes, eliminate a failure point... cats get the **** beat out of them at the track and still have a super lightweight system. Maybe a good Race focused system. The question I have not been able to answer is, does a muffler exist that will do as good a job of sound attenuation as the stock cats that will fit in the space available....
