The issue I'm running into is when I raise the window up and it seals, when I lower the window all the way down, it slightly protrudes the channel.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Happy Friday, folks. Last weekend I swapped out the window regulator and the good news is the window goes up and down without making noise. The bad news is when I was cleaning the window, the tape moved around and I'm left adjusting the window which has proven to be annoying. I have a good even gap between the window and the B-pillar, but it could stand to be raised another 1-2mm to be nice and tight. The issue I'm running into is when I raise the window up and it seals, when I lower the window all the way down, it slightly protrudes the channel. There are bolts on the bottom of the door that I have not touched but are apparently used for adjustment. What I'm trying to understand is the balance between slightly lifting the window in the regulator seats versus using those bolts. Does anyone have any tricks for getting the window aligned?

POST 2Original post

My friend and I just recently took on this job with my drivers side window. He and I found it took a combination of adjusting the two bolts at the bottom as well as the height of the window in the regulator. Using tape really helped us align it. What took a shop multiple tries to never get right, my buddy and I got it dialed in about two hours of trial and error adjustments. I found having a second set of hands also helped as he would loosen/tighten and I would align the window holding it from the outside of the door.

I really appreciate the reply. That's an interesting data point that even the shops have issues with this job. It turns out frameless windows can be annoying and require time. Having a buddy for extra hands, moral support, and a few beers is probably the way to do it. I did find some good information in the manual available on a Google search (not sure if I can post the link here or not). It mentions the placement of the window sitting on the bolt, which was one of the big mysteries I was having. Thanks again, and I'm glad you got it sorted!
