Did first oil change, put GDI CRC intake cleaner, cleaned the kn panel filter, cleaned the maf sensor (crc), cleaned the throttle body, installed new cabin air filter and since I drove it home almost 1300 miles I put a couple of bottles of Techron in it.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello, since its nearly impossible to buy a car on the open market these days I thought Id solicite here for someone who may be thinking of selling their coupe some time soon. Im looking primarily for an amber light 99 6 speed coupe, but may do a 2000 with the correct maintenance history. All the usual options would be great but not deal breakers, LSD, sport seats, rear wiper, unique color etc. If you know of a car that fits the bill, or youre considering selling yours, please PM me. Im a private cash buyer looking for a nice driver, thanks Steve
I have a 3/98 but not selling. If you want something pristine Consider touching basis with Ryan Friedman I believe out of NY, he constantly get access to those lower mileage , rare colors factory aero kits, he is pricey but negotiate. Every so often one pops in the PCA marketplace all the ones I have seen great records maintenance plus Porsche fanatics. There is a small broker in Wisconsin that finds good quality drivers at reasonable prices, these are going to be higher mileage but drivers. ENE Motors, speak with Jackie and tell her Luis from Texas send you their way. I bought my car from them. Prices just keep on going up someone yesterday At the Porsche club get together wanted to buy mine and was even telling me all the money and things he was going to do to it.
mine is the coupe, nick another guy from the Houston area has the red cab. Anyway if you cant find the right coupe you may be able to get a cab with a hardtop. Finally an assortment of the IPAs residing in my fridge (you said cheers), I am already celebrating Mothers Day.
Nicks car he got a great deal $13,000
My car Im thinking about doing red rock chip on back in front of wheels, like the older cars.
When you retire every day is a holiday.
Here's a few '99s:
Nice aerokit with factory LSD:
https://stcloud.craigslist.org/cto/d...317333402.html
Overpriced aerokit:
https://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/cto...312323365.html
Arena red C4:
https://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/...316523724.html
So honestly of the three cars. The first one is factory lsd but everything else is add on so I think is overpriced, the second one is definitely overpriced. The red one I dont know. It depends on what has been done. I spent 3 weeks looking for mine. 92,000 miles. 25,000 miles ago clutch rms, IMs, 6,000 miles ago plugs, coils, all fluids drained, new heat shields. Now my car came with the following surprises, hr springs, koni shocks, rss motor mounts, fab speed headers and exhaust. Fresh brake pads and rotors, plus the ac lines, the coolant tank and brake lines looked brand new, ac will freeze you. Everything suspensin wise is good and solid. They did a fresh oil change but forgot to put the crush aluminum washer so it was
leaking got another$500 off the price for a 2 dollar washer, anyway I think they did not had a clue about the car. I paid $18 for it and they gave me $500 to drive it home, I spent a total of $300 driving the car home including my one way plane ticket. Yes its silver but I dont think the red car will have as much stuff done as mine. I have already put 4,000 miles on it. Did first oil change, put GDI CRC intake cleaner, cleaned the kn panel filter, cleaned the maf sensor (crc), cleaned the throttle body, installed new cabin air filter and since I drove it home almost 1300 miles I put a couple of bottles of Techron in it. I also did 303 graphrene coating on the paint. I had to buy a Nokia amp from LAd they gave me a deal $50, now I need to get that amp braket, do a ppi because some of this cars will need thousands of dollars worth of work, I honestly believe I got lucky 🍀 on mine.I also got a ducktail.
It's a 2001.

looks like it went through Ryan Friedman
https://www.ryanfriedmanmotorcars.co...rera-c-934.htm
he has one that price is not listed, its a low mileage car but when I spoke to him he said that the engine shaft had play in it, probably more complicated than this. To make a long story short I spoke with my mechanic and Tex squirrel, the engine has to come out. Anyway Ryan told me that he wanted $25 for the car, he even send me additional photos and a video of the car. I told him my original interest in the car was that I had mine
but I was looking to diversify my investments, he was straightforward, since he sells on the pricey end on the market he seems like a straight shooter to me. First flat six finds some pretty good cars to.
People are actually looking for 996s with the amber lights now.
Thats amusing because I bought mine despite the ambers.
Its the first thing I replaced (originals are tucked away).
Its only later I found out that early builds are desirable.
Yeah, hilarious considering how much the headlights were hated for years. The previous owner of my car installed Ruf headlight covers to make it look like previous generations. In the end I reverted it back to stock configuration, as people were starting to appreciate the standard look more.
There is a 2000 with 105,000miles, i spoke with them and they are an actual porsche repair restoration shop. its Victorymotor cars in Houston, they are asking 24,000 but price is negotiable. sometimes they are just selling customers car. Talk to hugo. Car is like half hour from me. [phone removed], 30 pics on their website, this could be a good driver.
It's a tale as old as time. Other 911's (slat nose, 994's, hell 914's) people turned their noses up only to be considered a fool today. The 996 is no different, and we're starting to see that more now. The maker of this thread highlights that.
Mine was fitted with TechArt covered bonded to the original ambers. Found a set of og ambers and then Litronics and stowed away the ambers.
Funny how times change
The internet makes it nearly impossible to buy a nice car, for the reason as soon as the car hits, the search engines take over. By the time you call an owner they have had 50 calls and texts already. Almost all calls and texts say, Ill buy it for over your asking. Its no different than the housing market. You need to find a car via word of mouth mostly. Gone are the days where you can call an owner and chat for 30 minutes about their car, then set up a time to see it and drive it etc. A PPI is nearly impossible, for the same reason. As fun as BAT is, its so over priced its nuts. Ill wait for a nice private owner to contact me before they advertise, theyre still out there.
It was a clean car with aero, was really hoping your other buyer backed out last minute. Too bad I didn't get to run into you at Carlisle though, maybe next time.
Yup, it's a small world and I'm sure we'll run into each other.
I'm now on the lookout for my old car, as I know it will bring a sad smile to my face the first time I see it driving the opposite direction.
Guess I got lucky. Met the seller of my 99 996 on 12/3/20 and closed deal on Jan 1/15/21. Went down in the old traditional manner, long phone calls, price negotiations, ppi, and smooth payment and delivery. He placed just one craigslist ad and other than my interest in the car there was a guy in NJ that passed on the car at his initial asking price of 35K. I ended up with the car at 29 after extensive ppi, only issue imsb was not done LOL. Really clean car 27.5k miles. Was my seller the last of his kind? Nice guy we still keep in touch.
I think that particular controversy has come up on here before, not to rehash but there appears to have been an XAE Aerokit Carrera option that came with that wing and not the Taco.
OP keep hunting and good luck!
+1 on the data point, my newish-to-me 3/01 w/ XAE aero bumper, skirts and Carrera wing.
Houston area Rennsters, maybe I'll see you one of these days. Nearby in Austin.
Back to topic, OP I would also add Graham at Resmo to your dealer watch list. Always a good selection and reach out to him he may have something in the pipeline.
It's crazy how the 996 market is taking off and it seems like the early builds and C4S is what people are after. Deja Vu of the air-cooled market about ten years. When I drove my first 996 about six years ago I had no doubt this day would come.
911 Carrera
https://chicago.craigslist.org/nch/c...320408046.html
just came across this on Craigs. Aero, relatively low miles, recent maintenance, cool Sport Design rims....
I think we might be talking past each other. I don't dispute anything you're saying. I'm simply saying that without the car having the bumper and wing, it's simply (currently) a standard C2. Sure the parts can be added, but that's true of any C2.
