Use a test light to find switched power in the phone connector and then splice-in a power wire and ground for the XM.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am trying to install an XM Sat Rec in my 04 996 with the standard radio. I realize this is not the best set up for the purist, but that is not what I am looking for. I have the PSE for the best of sounds... The problem I have is at the antenna connection. The P cars is different then a standard antenna connection. I am using the FM modulator to try and hook up the unit. Does anyone know of an adaptor for this? I tryed the local car audio dealer but they could not find any listing for an adaptor. TIA

POST 2Original post

I got mine at Circuit City. I looked ALL OVER for the damn correct adapter to convert the antenna from Euro to Standard. They had to order it so I don't have it yet. It should be any day now. I can post a pic of the packaging, etc, so you know which one to get. It is a kit that has both the female and male adapter you will need. I am installing the hardwire FM modulator as SOON AS THE ADAPTER ARRIVES!!! I can't handle the wireless FM trnasmission anymore Shoot me a PM or email Dave to remind me and I will make sure and post up the pics ASAP.

POST 3Original post

It looks like there are some enterprising folks out there that might have overcome the MOST bus issue as I recently saw an iPod adapter that plugs into the MOST bus. If you contact them...maybe they have a similar adapter for the satellite radio. There website is http://www.dension.com/oem_info.htm Hope this helps...otherwise LVDell has presented the most probable solution. Let us know how things turn out.

POST 4Original post

That Denison company is NOT selling anything to overcome the MOST system yet. They keep saying "x" amount time left and it NEVER materializes.

POST 5Original post

Sorry for the bad info. I had not checked them out as I have a pre-MOST car. I think next time I'll verify my facts before I shove my foot in!

POST 6Original post

Watching the "Denison finally has a MOST interface" threads has been VERY comical to say the least.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys for the input. I called Chrutchfield and they were not sure but a picture on their website looked about right. It was a "euro" adaptor. Took the radio down to the local shop. Turns out they had an adaptor that worked great. It was listed for BMW/VW-EURO. I am now listening to XM through the FM modulator and I am very happy....again thanks for taking the time to reply....

POST 9Original post

Dave...glad to see it worked. I was going to say that the adapter I ordered says BMW-VW on it. Lewis....I'll see your and raise you

POST 10Original post

In the last update from the www.densionusa.com soap opera, it was definitely May, definitely May. I think they've been drinking more Purplesaurus Rex than we have. All I can say is ...... amateurs.

POST 11Original post

How hard is it to pull the radio out ? Do you need special tools?

POST 12Original post

You guys crack me up. We have over 300 Dension units installed, and maybe 10 of them are quirky. And of course, those ten are the posters. Really though, we've had numerous pro installers put in the Dension units, WITH sat radio, and it works just fine. densionusa is a joke. Dension is a totally separate company. Densionusa has nothing to do with Dension.

POST 13Original post

The antenna adapter is Metra Euro Adapter part # 40EU30. Make sure you get this part# because it has 2 pieces needed for radio to FM relay and FM relay to antenna. http://www.audiooutfitter.com/store/69729/40eu30.html

POST 14Original post

Thanks Macho Belly - ordered today ANy thoughts on 1) getting the radio out 2) finding where to get power to the xm device

POST 15Original post

You need special tools to get radio out - dealer should have them for @ $5. They are two little metal knife-like pieces with rings on the ends for your fingers. Insert tools in slots on radio until they click and then pull on rings. There is auxilliary power for oem phone kit behind the lower dash cubby. Look for a loose plastic connector. You'll need to pop-off the side trim pieces and carpet pieces - by your knees when seated. Pull from the back forward on the leather/plastic pieces that your knees rest against and then pull the carpet peices out of the tabs. Use a test light to find switched power in the phone connector and then splice-in a power wire and ground for the XM. I bought an auxilliary power outlet from radio shack and used it to plug in the power wire that came with my radio unit. This will allow easily switching devices later if desired.

POST 16Original post

Not to deviate from this tread but can someone tell me how to remove the radio from the dash. I am selling my car and want to disconnect the FM modulator. Thanks.
