Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The shifter doesn't have a set screw...it just slides on.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Since I've had my 01 Cab out this year in the spring, I've had this really annoying buzzing sound coming from the center console area when accelerating. When I have my hand on the shifter and holding it, the buzzing goes away. I've got a bunch of after market parts - a b&m short shifter, and agency power short shift link, and a techart ****/horseshoe.
I took the center console and the shifter (the whole thing with the plastic mount to see if anything was loose or no tight anymore. Everything seems fine - the shifter is tight, nothing loose - not too much that could even give that sort of noise. Only thing I did was I thought maybe the shift link might be touching the plastic mount (where the shifter attaches to), so I put a rubber stickie pad inbetween the two.
Still have the sound and with so little parts actually moving down there I'm not sure what else to check. Seems like the smoking gun is that the sounds stops when I have my hand on the shifter. Any other ideas on what the check? Thanks in advance.....
Your car looks great with the Champions and body kit.
This is a long shot but check what is inside your rear centre console compartment. I had a buzzing that was particularly noticeable around 4k rpm and after emptying the console the buzzing is gone. I had loose change and a couple of other metallic items in there which must have been vibrating against each other causing the sound.
Good luck.
Thanks for the replies...I'll try the ashtray thing tomorrow morning driving to work and see if taking it out makes the buzzing stop. The shifter doesn't have a set screw...it just slides on. I'll update tomorrow after work!!!
