Today I replaced my original 996 spoiler to the Gt3 front and at the same time I also added side skirts.

No structural damage, but I need to replace the cover.

If I ever had to replace, I would go back to the factory unit.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Seems as though Helen Keller parked in front of me the other day and did a job on the front bumper cover. No structural damage, but I need to replace the cover. I have a 99 C2 and would like to get something a bit different. I do not like the look of the standard Porsche aero front. Have seen in the Performance catalog a lip spoiler (kinda pricey at $800) that begins to have the look I want.
Anyone out there have any suggestions for me? I have cruised MA Shaw, RUF, and Getty Design. The Tech Art 2 piece for my 99 looks pretty good, though I am not sure I want the "wings" detail at the side.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I have the TechArt type I front bumber cover. Besides the look (which you either like or ?) the cover is rigid (i.e. no flex or give). As such, I think its more prone to rock chips and or damage. If I ever had to replace, I would go back to the factory unit.
Someone was advertising a GT2 sytle front bumper cover for the 996 in the most recent Der Vorganger. It might have been Pitstop Performance but I'm not sure.

I think you shoul check out the cargraphic front spoiler. They got a little bit of mesh in it and I think it looks really aggressive. I will try and put a link to thier site here, or you can just hit www.cargraphic.com

Hi
Though you don't like the aerokit I stil would like to recommend the GT3 front. The original GT3 is more agressive than the aerokit.

Thanks for the thought. Which one did you get? There seem to be several variants out there. I have looked at the Strosek, Caractere, Ruf, Gemballa and Tech Art sites along with several others who show what they say to be either GT 2 or GT 3 fronts. If you have a pic, would love to see it.

Clue me in...
I thought the aero kit for the 99 996 is the GT3 setup. It looks like it, what's the difference?
TIA

A bumper cover of the Aerokit Cup and the Aerokit Carrera is the same as the GT3 front bumper.
The only difference is that the GT3 bumper has an open center intake -for the 3rd radiator.
This intake is closed when you get an Aerokit front bumper.
Jon,
Yes you can add a 3rd radiator to an aerokit front spoiler. I have one and I did. Carnewal.com sells the parts.
Here is a link to the install (w/pictures).
