To check - remove a light pod from your car and compare with your friends - look at the back of the pod, where it connects to the car - if the same, you are good to go and your problem is solved!

I have a little problem passing the inspection over here, the us models do not have cleaning device on the front lights when the car have xenon so it doesnt pass inspection.

You may be able to borrow your friends lights for the day of your test, just by swapping over light pods.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello folks.
I have a little problem passing the inspection over here, the us models do not have cleaning device on the front lights when the car have xenon so it doesnt pass inspection.
My question is if it works to just get the xenon bulb out and put a halogen one in just for inspection?
Anyone?
Regards // Norbert
I have been told this can also be a problem in the UK with their MOT inspection.
Maybe find another car and swap headlights for the inspection - then put yours back in.
I can do this swap, my friend has one but I heard its possible to remove the xenon bulb and put in a helogen one, but I need this to be confirmed, I will need to do this every year thats why this would be the best option tho...
Nobby's lights do not have washers
Can he simply swap in a standard Halogen bulb to pass the inspection? - or does he need to swap the whole light pod out for his friends unit?
Anyone know????
Nobby,
here's the diagram for Halogen lights
And here's the diagram for Litronics (Porsche for Xenons)
Item 2 on the Litronics diagram is the actual Litronics bulb
It's a high voltage unit - nothing like a halogen.
And you see the cap on the back of the lamp pod - it's completely different from Halogen to Litronic.
Anyone done the upgrade the other way and can tell Nobby what he needs to do to go back to halogen?
How, why, why is it possible to have a law that requires washers for HIDs but not halogens?
Does that have something to do with driving on the wrong side of the road?
I would expect the exact opposite.
But those are HID retrofits, the factory HIDs, US, come with the spray.
Provided they don't check for actual operation you could just insert the visible portion of the washers....
The only way to go back to halogens, IMMHO, is to swap out the entire headlight assemblies.
Hello guys.
Yes it looks a bit different, but how does the halogen bulb look like, that picture was of a litronic one I guess?
I think it could work , if I just skip to install the nr12 of the litronic assembly then it wouldnt get the high voltage but normal 12 as I belive that is the ballast?
No halogen do not need washers but my friend has on his gemballa so eather way they will work.
Do you guys mean that my xenon are after market installed as they should have washers to in the USA?
This is the Halogen bulb - it's type H7 12V 55W

You can by the Litronics (xenon) units in the US as after market, and they do not have to have washers

Nobby - take a look at the 2nd paragraph of this arcticle on going from Halogen to Litronics
http://www.realtime.net/~rentner/Por..._Starting.html
They suggest that, unles you have the self leveling feature on the Litronics, the light pod is just a direct swap, no wiring. needed.
You'd just swap one light pod Halogen for another Litronics.
So that would mean that you can borrow you friends light pods, and just swap them into your car for the day of your test!
To check - remove a light pod from your car and compare with your friends - look at the back of the pod, where it connects to the car - if the same, you are good to go and your problem is solved!
Based on your GT3 clone - I'd bet that this is how the Litronics were added, without the added wiring or control module for auto leveling.
On the 996 the whole light unit comes out of the car as a light pod.
It sides forward on rails after you unlock it from inside the front trunk.
You may be able to borrow your friends lights for the day of your test, just by swapping over light pods.
The xenon also needs to have auto leveling, halogen do not need that, has something with the light to do, xenon is more powerful if you get it right in the eyes.
