Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I would recommend keeping the extended warranty...
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I bought a 2004 40th anniversary 911 roughly 4 weeks ago from a Porsche dealer. The car had 13,500 miles and since then I have put 1,500 miles on the car. Absolutely love it. The car came with CPO warranty that gave me roughly 18 months of warranty from the day I bought it. I also opted for the extended warranty for $4,000 which gave me 5 years and 65,000 miles from the date of purchase so I have double warranty for a period of time. I am wondering if I should cancel the extended. If I cancel, I get a pro-rated refund. My concern is what could happen after the CPO warranty runs out if I cancel my extended. I'm not sure $4,000 is a good deal for piece of mind.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Why pay for double coverage? Get a refund now and consider 3rd party warranty after CPO runs out. By then, you'll have a better feel for your risk level. If you car is rock-solid for next 18 months, then I'd say don't buy the 3rd party warranty. You can fix a lot for $4000. Just my $.02.
The only problem with dropping the extended now and trying to add it later is that you might not be able to get it later. I have an '02 that I was able to warranty in December of '06, but I would not be able to get the same all inclusive warranty now in '07. Make sure you are a not going to miss out on any options 18 months from now.

Congrats on the car, I too love my 40th Anny. I'd keep the warranty in place for peace of mind; one major repair can wipe out the $4K in a flash, and if it's transferable will help you sell the car down the road.
Congratulations on the car, enjoy it in good health.
I would recommend keeping the extended warranty... when things break on this car they are very expensive to repair or replace.
For example, the following have been replaced on my car and covered under my extended warranty over the last year:
New transmission/gearbox...... $8,000
Coolant box............................ $600
Rear main seal ....................... $800
The warranty has paid for itself 3 times over and is still good for another 2 years and roughly 28,000 miles....
