Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Face it, after market intake system dont really do minimal if that in terms of adding horsepower. It does give better flow of air, but if what behind that is restrictive, the the intake wont produce what its manufacturer's claim they will produce. Just like in terms of traffic ie. five lane freeway comes down to a 2 lane, there is going to to be bumper to bumper traffic. This same goes to the intake system, you have all that free flow air but it cant all go in at the same time. RSS installed a new throttle body that is larger than a 996 GT3 on my car, and to tell you the truth, this mod should have been common sense for us car guys that want more power. My intake now comes to life and you can defintely here the whine that comes from it. My throttle is that more responsive and effortless revs to higher rpm. Dosent have any hesistation at all when you get on the pedal. Rpms just jump up, not saying it wil be like a v12, but you do notice, hear and feel the difference when you drive your car after.

POST 2Original post

LOL! What's next, Extrude Honing the intake manifold plenum?

POST 3Original post

Any specs on the throttle body? Cost? Install price? Thanks.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

RSS has the info here is their number [phone removed] $350 + install

POST 5Original post

^ can you PM me the info? this is something i would be interested in

POST 6Original post

One question, you have a larger throttle body feeding into the stock diameter RSS plenum?

POST 7Original post

a good question. also what about the stock intake manifold? that's really the last restriction before air enters the cylinders, wouldn't this have to be increased or rendered more efficient somehow?

POST 8Original post

yes.... we need more details... will JUST replacing the throttle body with everything else stock okay?? what's the long term wear and tear? and WHY didn't porsche do this?????

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I the RSS Plenum has a much more free flow design to it, so a lot more air is directed into the manifold. Give RSS a call, thats how I found out about all these things. I live close to them, so I drove over to see what they had to offer first hand, and I left with a big smile cause now when I drive my car, it is so much more refined!!!

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hey, if something truly works, and you are happy about your experience, wouldnt you want people to know as well? Im not selfish at all. I dont want to be the only one blowing people away on the streets.

POST 13Original post

Are they paying you to say this? Sounds like a free advertisement to me!!!

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nope, just want Porsche's to get back in the speed of things

POST 15Original post

Less restrictive air filter, Larger throttle body, Plenum with less static pressure... Now we just need larger intake runners, larger intake ports, Larger intake valves... and to make all that work, we need... Cams that are more aggressive with higher lift and longer duration, Higher compression pistons, more displacement, bigger bore, longer stroke... and higher volume fuel injectors, remapped ECU... and that JUST covers the intake side Hummm...I wonder if just doing one thing will make a big difference ???

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

if you have the money why not? I was just doing something that was not too expensive and readily accessible and something you could in a few hours, but its up to you how far you want to go. Modding isnt for everyone. There are people who just watch and wish, and there are people that do something about it.

POST 17Original post

Porsches don't tend to be throttle-body limited.
