Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Engine compartment will stay cooler when running the lid fan.
Leading evidence: 'Run lid fan' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run lid fan' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
Engine coolant will remain cooler (by more that 10%) if you run the radiator fans full speed.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I seem to recall reading on a past thread that manually raising the spoiler helps with engine cooling when the car's not moving, like in city traffic. True? Or just an alibi for those who like it up?
ha ha, thats good! I saw that too! I cant imagine it being cooler when the car is stationary because the sides are sealed, but moving? Just let it do it's German engineered thing, shall we?
It should not make a difference since the cars are water cooled. The vast majority of the heat is carried by the water jacket and cooled via the radiators. Opening the spoiler vents the engine compartment but doesn't really make a difference.
On an air cooled Porsche it does make a difference for obvious reasons. You'll recall that the spoiler on our cars are designed for improved aerodynamics at high speed and lifts at 75mph. The 993 is designed for high speed stability and additional cooling, it lifts at 50mph as a result.
You'd probably cool your engine faster by cranking your heater to "high" inside the cabin. But, feel free to test it by monitoring your temperature guage with the spoiler up & down.
Engine compartment will stay cooler when running the lid fan. Engine coolant will remain cooler (by more that 10%) if you run the radiator fans full speed. Position of spoiler does not matter.
Yes..
but some of us have done the fan override mod. I am so glad I have done this. Being stuck in LA traffic with the warm weather...having the fans on while SITTING..helps A LOT.
