Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Do you all think the regular black center caps (non-colored crest) look better on a triple black 996 aero, or the colored ones? I have the GT3 rims I think they are called Sport Design rims. I have the colored crests, but they are a bit old and don't seem to age well, so I was thinking of replacing them. So trying to decide if the non-colored look better......I think they just might.

POST 4Original post

No doubt about it. Change the hood emblem to silver and go with the standard black/silver center caps. Down the road you may want to apply black chrome to the wheels to finish it all off.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks to Eric at Bumperplugs, I do have a really nice Silver Crest (very high quality I may add). I think I can get the set of non-colored crest caps pretty cheap too.

POST 6Original post

Here are the colored ones with polished wheels....I know it's not black but it appears to be in certain light conditions.

POST 7Original post

Here are the silver crests on a black 996 As they are the std issue, I think they make the car look less rather than more attractive. Here are colored crests on the same car Much better - IMHO

POST 8Original post

It does look better...But that might be the wheels haha!

POST 10Original post

I thought I'd try and slip the wheels past you guys But you spotted them! Still think the colored crests are better though......

POST 12Original post

If you think about it, the reason everyone loves to install the clear turn signal lenses is because the amber ones stand out and ruin the fluid body lines. Same can be said for colored wheel caps. The silver rims are broken up by a colored center, instead of a silver/black matching center that continues the lines of the wheel. Know what I mean? I like the silver/black center caps!

POST 13Original post

I go back and forth - but I think the silver/black looks better too. The issue with the colored caps are that they look like crap after a season or so, definitely do not hold their luster.

POST 14Original post

I also like the colored crest better, have had mine for 4 years and still look new.
