Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

After test driving the 996, I thought to myself, "why on earth would anyone want any car other than a 911?"

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello from the Texas Hill Country. Bought my 4th Porsche today, a 1999 996 with 85k miles. Paid $29,300. and think I got a pretty good deal because the engine was replaced less than 8000 miles ago and is warrantied by Porsche until December 2007. Was told by Porsche that the warranty goes with the car. It is the 2005 engine which I have heard is one of the best.
This forum has been very helpful. After looking for about 4 months I found this one in San Antonio. Maintained only by Porsche and for the year and miles still looks almost new. Has traction control and is a 6 speed. Will post some photos tomorrow.
Welcome! 1999's rock -- you have the best of both worlds without worrying about engine problems. Good shopping and patience. When you post pics tell us about options too. I split time between Tampa and Houston so I guess that's not close enough to see you bending it through curves. Good luck!
Had a 1978 white 911 Targa, a 1984 Kiln Red Coupe w/ Autothority Chip and B&B exhaust and a 1987 yellow Targa w/ low miles. Have not received my membership # yet, but as soon as I do I will post pics.
Great buy. That car should last you a real long time. So you had an SC, and 3.2 and a Targa and now a 996. I'll be curious to see which one was your favorite over the long haul. I've driven all these mentioned above and ended up with a 3.2. After test driving the 996, I thought to myself, "why on earth would anyone want any car other than a 911?"
That ^ was your 6th post!
Don't make me say this: ====>
OK "Newbie," where do you think you are.... on a Bimmer Board? We need pics of your new ride! Come on, post up the %&^@*$# pics!
&^@*$# "Newbies!" Once you think you get a group of them trained, then someone comes along and mucks things up again!
Seriously, let me kow if you need help getting the pics posted.
Welcome from another relative newcomer to the board!
I'm in a similar situation in that I purchased a 2000 C2 with 66K total miles, but only a few thousand miles on a new engine. I'm curious how you know that you have a 2005 engine? From the engine number?
Is your warranty specifically on the new engine or a CPO? I have CPO that expires in June and from what I understand, that also automatically ends the new engine warranty even though the engine will only be 7 months old at that point. It would be great to hear that the engine warranty extends beyond the CPO.
I was told by Porsche USA that the warranty is for two years. The Porsche dealer that put the engine in stated that it was a 2005 version which is superior to the other 3.4 engines.
