He's had a couple of different local Porsche mechanics inspect/work on it and basically just recommended driving it as no signs of imminent failures.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I figured it was about time to sign in... I've been lurking for the last couple of months since I first learned a friend of mine was looking to move on from his, now mine!, 996. Very minimal maintenance history on the car hence a very reasonable sell price. He owed it for three years and did the wheels/tires, spark plugs and tubes and the front rad fan along with other minor things. He's had a couple of different local Porsche mechanics inspect/work on it and basically just recommended driving it as no signs of imminent failures. Fingers crossed. For the price of a used 996 you get one hell of a sports car. I think for the money it's hard to find anything comparable performance and style-wise. I was considering an e46 M3, I sold my 2001 325CI to buy the 996. My plan is to essentially DD during the good months although I do plan to have a second vehicle. Ideally I'd like to get a few years without anything major. At that point I'd feel pretty good that I've gotten my monies worth out of and anything beyond that is gravy. I have no idea if the IMS has been done or not. The car doesn't leak, runs smooth, best handling car I've ever driven. 1999 C2 144k miles, triptronic, black leather inside.
