Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Can someone guide me as to how difficult it is to change out spark plugs on a 2000 996. Looking at the list of things during a 60K service, this seems to be the hardest.
Very easy, first and foremost, drop the mufflers by loosening the inlet pipe clamps near the bottom of the car and the three flange nuts on the insides of the mufflers.
Once you ge the mufflers off, all the coil packs are right there, they require allen wrenches, dont know the exact size but they are small.
Twist gently back and forth the coil packs to slide boot off the tip of the spark plug.
Your plugs are next, make sure to use a rubber insert plug socket.
Remember you are torquing fasteners in aluminum and not to overtorque, I would hate to have to heli-coil a 996 head.
Get the Porsche recommended Snapon 5/8 socket Snapon #S9706KA and 4" extension Snapon FXWP4.
There is no need to remove any exhaust parts. Follow the instructions in the shop manual or posted here in the last millenium. A little tight. The above tools make it possible buy them you'll be glad you did. The extention has a unique wobble feature.
I would agree it is easy. I did take the mufflers off when I did mine as I had also done PSE prior to this and as such removing the mufflers was easy and only added about 20 minutes to the project and made access much easier (the first time I removed the mufflers it took a bit longer but once you do it once it is very fast). Just make sure you have a couple universal flex joints and a couple of different length extensions.
