Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I use Hergesheimer and can tell you that they absolutely know their stuff and will give you a very thorough PPI and will pull no punches.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Most of the cars I seem to like are in LA so might as well get a good PPI place nailed down for when I need to pull the trigger.
I've searched the forums and TRE Motorsports and Hergesheimer Motorsports seem to be the two major ones for LA. All of those posts are a few years old though.
Those still the two contemporary places to a good thorough PPI? Anywhere else you would recommend?
Thanks
Apparently noone in the states is open on a Saturday...having a tough time trying to get anyone on the phone. Figured maybe it was just holiday weekend but most of them don't seem to work weekends.
That is EXACTLY the problem. I had to search and search...until I found someone open to bring my car to.
Apparently, the shops are open but by appt only. So TRE for instance I called then around 2PM and someone answered the phone. They were there..just not officially open.
Weird as most Porsche dealers are closed weekends too..makes no sense...people work and need service to work on weekends. Never made sense to me...why dont dealers close like on Tues or Wed...so they can be open full hours on SAT AND SUN when the majority of people need the work done. I know why....so they can gouge you by pimping a rental car. I mean its like going to court to fight a ticket. What a hassle it is to bring your car in for service...during the work week. Total hustle I tells ya...hustle.
TRE is a great place. I have my preventative maintenance performed there and they are always fairly priced, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with.
I use Hergesheimer and can tell you that they absolutely know their stuff and will give you a very thorough PPI and will pull no punches. You will know exactly what kind of shape the prospective car is in when they are done.
Mark and Laura Hergesheimer, the principals of the place, are great people to deal with and are very, very knowledgeable about all Porsches.
