I ran 90A poly mounts on my e36 m3 and it definitely wasnt anything crazy, but it seems like people are saying the RSS mounts are really borderline too much.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone have longterm experience with semi-solid engine mounts? Apparently NVH on the RSS mounts is really high whereas the Wevo mounts are pretty good in terms of NVH. Any thoughts on what you prefer and why? I ran 90A poly mounts on my e36 m3 and it definitely wasnt anything crazy, but it seems like people are saying the RSS mounts are really borderline too much. Also hows long-term reliability and fatigue. Any issues with the engine mount surround areas cracking due to the increased vibrations? Car is going to be a streetable-track car so its gonna see some miles... but it wont be daily driven.

POST 2Original post

I was using the middle rennline semi-solids. I think they were blue? not harsh at all. I'm moving to the hardest (yellows) now that the direction for the car hs changed... Best,

POST 3Original post

I have RSS engine mounts and I don't think the NHV is bad at all. At idle you can feel slightly more vibration than the stock mounts but it's almost imperceptible and most of the time I don't even realize it. I did quite a bit of research prior to buying them and I did not come across any info that stated they were noticeably higher than the Wevo's in NVH. I think you'll be fine with either.

POST 4Original post

I'm using the Rennline tuneable motor mounts in both my 993 and 996, with the medium hardness bushings. There is definitely an increase in vibration that is heard and felt but it doesn't not seem unpleasant to me at all. If anything, I like the added "feel" and noise from the engine.

POST 5Original post

Ive been using RSS mounts for a couple years. The NVH is noticeable at idle, but mainly if you have your hand on the shift ****. And the trade off is more than worth it as the connected feel of the motor and chassis is wonderful. Im sure new stock mounts would have been similar but less so, to each there own.
