Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I thought it was cool that they had them installed in an engine and they were running it on the test stand.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is a fascinating article on new technology - 3D printed pistons. I know it is for Porsche 991/911, but it makes one wonder what is possible next. It has a very good 4 minute video on the process. https://www.thedrive.com/tech/34775/...ore-horsepower

POST 2Original post

Wow. I have heard of 3D printed teeth and fillings for dentistry, even metal ones. But this is really something else - 30 more HP from these pistons!

POST 3Original post

New 3D printing Technology and Materials are advancing by leaps and bounds !! These are not your average desktop 3D printers !!!

They might be in 10 years, lol

POST 5Original post

I saw that article. I'm wondering if the cooling duct design is something that could not be done with traditional casting (EDIT - I mean forging), but can with 3D printing. Interesting...even the article says it will be many years before this tech shows up in regular production Porsches.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

They said in the video that the cooling duct design in the 3D printed pistons is not something that can be done in forged pistons. I thought it was cool that they had them installed in an engine and they were running it on the test stand. Really cool shot of the red hot exhaust. And they were running it at 6500 RPM. Now that is some testing.
