Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use mobil1 75w-90' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace around 50,000 would be a good point' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

A change around 50,000 would be a good point but be careful what lube you use.

If I change the Diff that also changes the manual transmission?

I was going to change the gear oil in the GT3 this weekend so thanks for the heads up!
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

That seems really high, is there an oil filter on the transmission system to keep it clean? I used to change mine everyother oil change on my S2000. Transmissions take a lot of stress and abuse and often with out any filtering.
It is a sealed, non-pressure system and the only negative of old lube is breakdown and metal flakes from wear. The later is not a problem as the case is designed to keep all metal at the bottom and it is unlikely it would circulate with the lube.
However, it is not harmful and probably helpful to change the lube sooner rather than later. A change around 50,000 would be a good point but be careful what lube you use. They are not all equal. I prefer the Shell you can get from Porsche in liter bottles....syncro's praise the stuff.
Changing it too often is just overkill.
I use the Mobil1 75W-90. ABOUT $8.50/L at Auto Zone, etc.
Interval depends on use of the car. If it is a track ***** then change every year. If it is a DD, then as 1999 stated, every 50K is just fine.
The Mobil 1 available in the States is NOT formulated for differentials and will be too slippery for the LSD. You would need to include an addititive with it for it to work properly. You would blow out the LSD in short order.
That is, unless Mobil has made the proper lube available in the States since I last looked.
Funny you should say that since this is taken from the Mobil1 website:
Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90 is a supreme performance, synthetic, multi-purpose, SAE 75W-90 automotive gear lubricant designed to meet the highest level of performance requirements of modern passenger vehicles in all types of operating conditions, including limited slip applications, as well as delivering outstanding power transfer performance.
Compared to conventional hypoid gear lubricants, Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90 performs exceptionally well over a wide range of temperatures. Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90 achieves this through a unique proprietary formulation that deliver optimized viscosity as a function of temperature properties together with the highest level of inherent formulation stability and protects against thermal and oxidative degradation, wear and corrosion, and viscosity loss associated with premature shearing. It also can be used in extended service and for aiding in fuel economy performance.
Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90 contains special friction modifiers designed for limited slip-type differentials. In most applications, the addition of special LS (limited slip) additives is not required. For axles requiring the highest level of limited-slip performance, OEM specific LS additives can be added to this fluid.

Dell, if you are not having any problems with the pull in your GT3, then I wouldn't worry about it. However, if you find that occasionally the car wants to stray left at high powered pulls, better either change the lube or include an additive as Mobil themsleves say may be necessary. If you do any engine mods and increase the power, you may experience this problem as I did. Shell Transaxle cleared it up. In the cars without LSD, it makes no difference.
How can you use something that is not approved by Porsche?
Lubrication of the transmission and differential (transaxle) is from the same fluid, so you have to take both into consideration. LSD like one type of additive and the synrco's like a different kind. The fluid must be properly balanced to accommodate both.
Tim, you missed the main event!
All that's left are empty popcorn boxes, a few old beer cans, and some empty diff oil bottles...
And that diff lube stinks!!
There is a chance that Dell could re-ignite the oil wars if the suggested diff lube doesn't meet his exacting specifications......
Never give up hope - and keep some microwave corn on standby
Just under 3 liters on a non-GT3 and just under 3.5 liters for the GT3 so figure <$90-120 in parts and $0 in labor if you do it yourself and if the dealer or indy do it NO MORE than 1 hour of labor.
