Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
Without the means to toggle the ABS valves you could find a stretch of dirt road and activate the ABS by checking the rear view mirror and when no one is behind you, stomp the brake pedal as hard as you can and stay on it until the car is at standstill.
Leading evidence: 'Use non-piwis / non-icarsoft obd ii scanner' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check rear view mirror' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

If I get some brake pedal, will use the technique suggested in this thread to activate ABS and see how it goes.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anyone on this site used a non-PIWIS / non-iCarsoft OBD II scanner to successfully perform an ABS Bleeding service on a
2002 996.2 Carrera 4
by a somewhat technically competent owner?
There is an abundance of information in this site on this subject, but it is rather overwhelming.
I have contacted Foxwell Technical Support by direct emai, and they stated that NONE of their units has this feature for my car. PIWIS and iCarsoft
Any tip or reply would be much appreciated.
Assume you've changed out the ABS unit or maybe the master or some of those prime upper brake lines..?
Because unless you've introduce air into the ABS system should not need to do the ABS bleed. Just use a regular ole pressure power bleeder pushing thru 1.5L new fluid thru all 4 corners should do just fine for a full brake fluid flush.
If you do need to do ABS bleed, get the $75 PIWIS, its forum thread will steer you in the right direction. Confirm, my Foxwell 530 ($150) will not do it, but my $75 PIWIS will.

^^^ Easier said than done just sayin
Thank you for your note. I only changed brake fluids at calipers, in proper sequence; none of the brake system components were touched. At the time of bleeding, with the engine off, the pedal moved hard but upon opening the bleed nipple, it went to floor, as expected. I used a one-way inline check-valve to bleed the brakes by myself; I have done this before on my other German cars repeatedly over the years.
Would it possible for the inline valve to have failed, or somehow, I managed to get air in the system? I have ordered a Motive pressure bleeding kit and will be re-bleeding the system under pressure.
Will update this post with progress. In the meantime, anyone is welcomed to chip in.

If you unknowingly ran the reservoir empty you have introduced air into the system. However, more conventional brake bleeding will get the air out.
The valve can fail but it is easy to check if so. Clean it well using soapy water and suck and blow through it. If air goes through in both directions it has failed. If in only one direction air goes through, then it is fine.
Without the means to toggle the ABS valves you could find a stretch of dirt road and activate the ABS by checking the rear view mirror and when no one is behind you, stomp the brake pedal as hard as you can and stay on it until the car is at standstill. Repeat couple of times and any air will be flushed back into the reservoir and rise to the top.
OTOH I know of no way air can be introduced into the ABS valve block when doing a brake bleed.
hardtailer,
Thank you for your suggestions. I will redo the full brake bleed with a Motive pressure bleeder. If I get some brake pedal, will use the technique suggested in this thread to activate ABS and see how it goes.
