Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is there a trick to putting alternator back on? Do I need a huge pry bar or a BFH? I wrestled that thing for like 20 minutes and could not line it back up. The thing was PITA to remove so I new once I got back to putting it on, it was going to be a worse PITA.

POST 2Original post

You need to turn the alternator slightly clockwise to clear the mount and then turn counter clockwise to mate it up. It can be a PITA.

POST 3Original post

You need to make sure the bushing in the rear arm is pushed out to maximize clearance.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes it looks seated, I think I am going to shave about 0.0010" off of it, there is not need for it to be that tight. 1999Porsche911 - I tried all different directions, that one didnt work, the mounting lugs are just too tight.

POST 5Original post

Make sure any burrs on the mounts are filed down. It is a tight fit. Soft metal distorts easily.

POST 6Original post
