Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

My 2001 996 Cab has a CDR220 in it that I installed back in 2003. It has worked fine since installation.

Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 1 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Forgive me if this has been asked and answered, but your help would be appreciated. My 2001 996 Cab has a CDR220 in it that I installed back in 2003. It has worked fine since installation. Now however, the radio turns OFF when the ammeter shows a full charge reading of 14 on the ammeter. If I turn on the fan motor, to lower the charge rate, the radio turns back on. If I lower the fan setting too soon, the radio turns off. After the battery has charged for a while and the ammeter runs below 14, the radio works without the fan motor being used as the "off/on" device. Is it just a bad radio? Is there something in the radio that can be corrected to eliminate this? Is there something reading the charging circuit (like the voltage regulator attached to the alternator) that is sensing a full charge situation and shutting off the radio so all the electricity goes to the battery? Or what? Thanks for your help with this mystery.
