Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 2000 996 is hard to start immediately after refueling and only then. I have to pump the gas while cranking in order for engine to fire up. I recently purchased durametric diagnostic software which shows a fault of P0440 fault code 93 "Fuel Tank Ventilation System." Unfortunately the software will not diagnose this any further. Has anyone else experienced a check engine light with this fault code, and how do I fix a problem like this? Thanks for all your help. note: my gas cap was changed years ago due to a recall by porsche. Joe C.

POST 2Original post

hmmmmm.... no idea... but some p car owners have cars that are pretty picky when it comes to certain type of gas..... i don't know how they know... but have you tried using a different type of brand of gas....? just a thought........

POST 3Original post

p0440 charcoal cansiter shutoff valve. not related to the fuel cap. clear the fault. if the fault comes back you will need to get further into it how many miles are on the car

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I currently have 26,000 miles on car. I did clear the fault and will wait for it to come back, but the starting problem at the gas station, ( I have tried different gas and added fuel while there was different levels in my tank) is getting worse. I fear one day it wont fire up. Thanks Brad Joe C.

POST 5Original post

most likey unrelated to the fault. do you store the car for periods of time ? like winter?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No, I drive it every day to and from work. It's only about 12 miles a day, some more mileage on weekends but as you can see not much mileage overall. Could that cannister cause the starting problems after fueling? Joe C.

POST 7Original post
