Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Sounds like one of the cables needs adjusting, the one that determines position of stick north-south.

I'm really not an expert, but when I got my B&M short shifter installed, the mechanic recommended an alu shift linkage.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anyone experienced this? - In the last day or so, my car is having trouble finding the gears that are forward on the stick - R,1,3,5. It doesn't feel if anything is broken and it either works or doesn't, hot, cold, sitting still or rolling. When it doesn't find the gear, it feels like the something is disconnected. Gears 2,4,6 seem to be fine. There are no grinding noises and otherwise the car seems to run fine. I pulled the shift boot and none of the parts connected directly to the bottom of the stick seem to be broken or cracked. When it's not working, the problem "feels" like it's further back in the trans because the shift cable tension is still there, just no "notch" feel like when you normally select a gear.
I recently had an RMS replacement (3 months ago).
Any ideas?
Do you have a short shifter? I'm really not an expert, but when I got my B&M short shifter installed, the mechanic recommended an alu shift linkage. The OEM part is plastic and might break with harder shifting.
EVO sells one for $120:

Sounds like one of the cables needs adjusting, the one that determines position of stick north-south. It should be more effective when stick is forward, worth trying to see effect
I would bet the cable housings have slipped out of or were never locked back into place in their respective holders/retainers. They are under the car around the front part of the trans as I recall. I had to put mine back in place shortly after the dealer worked on my car. The front trans mounting bolts were not even finger tight as well so not only could I not shift properly but when I did and let out the clutch it felt like the motor/ trans assy. was just floating and not securely attached to anything. Amazing these guys charge what they do and cannot even do a simple job correctly. It doesn't end here but we'll save te rest for another thread. Good Luck, and BTW you can fix this yourself in about 10 minutes if you can jack up the car enough to crawl under it with jack stands of course supporting the weight.
Nick was right. The housings were loose. I called the dealer and explained the problem. They had me come in the next day at 10AM and I was out of there by 10:30! Problem solved.
