Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looking at some Nad-4 wheels.... they're 19's 8.5 f 50mm ofset, and 10 r with a 50mm ofset... how would this look on the 99 911 cab? what type of offset should i be looking at or can i add spacers to these puppies to make them awesome? thanks btw, what's the man. spec offset anyways? is it 42mm 57mm?

POST 2Original post

Porsche_Smile - I don't recall what year or version of a 996 you have. Narrow body OEM wheels offsets are 50mm Front and 65mm Rear. I am not sure about Wide Body OEM wheel offsets. If yo have a narrow body car, the front wheels at 8.5" and 50mm offset would work, but the 10" with 50mm wheels for the rear would NOT work. They would protrude past the fender and you would probably have rubbing issues, especially if you car has been lowered.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks gota.... my 996 is a 99 cab narrow body...... so how does the offset work... isn't a higher number pushing the wheels out and the smaller the number the closer it is to the center of the wheel?

POST 5Original post

What Dell said. Here is a link to a wheel offset calculator. http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp Look at the diagram on the left to get an idea of offset. Then enter OEM specs for a rear wheel in the Current Wheel specs section (10" width and 65mm offset). Then enter 10" width and 50mm in the New Wheel specs section. Then click on the the "Calculate" button to get the results at the bottom. That part is self explanitory. Now change the wheel width in the New Wheel specs section to 10.5" and clock on calculate. You will get a different answer. That is why you need to know both the wheel width and the offset to determine if the potential "new" wheels will fit on your car. Let us know if you have any other questions!
