Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Yesterday I used 2 wire hangers, one for each hole and it worked out fine.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 1 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

I've done the small plastic putty knife for center caps with no holes as well and it worked great.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Can someone tell me how to change the center wheel caps. Do I have to take the tire off?

POST 2Original post

You have to take the WHEEL off of the car and push it out from the inside. There are usually little plastic clips that are holding them in. If you pry them out from the front you may break them.

POST 4Original post

Yesterday I used 2 wire hangers, one for each hole and it worked out fine. k

POST 7Original post

I just used a small flat head screw driver and GENTLY popped them off. The plastic is NOT THAT DELICATE...dont gorilla it and you will be fine. TRUST ME..I am a mechanical idiot...read my SSK threads hahaha...but yeah it was easy enough to pop them off.

POST 8Original post

Three easy steps 1) Bend a coat hanger 2) Insert Hook bend into hole (in cap) 3) Slowly pull out cap (If your cap doesn't have a hole, you will need to remove the tire)

POST 9Original post

I think you meant that you will need to remove the WHEEL.

POST 10Original post

Coincidentally, the holes are the same spacing as a stereo DIN chassis removal tool. This is basically a wide pari of pliers with hooks on the ends. It makes it very easy to remove them and not mess them up.

POST 13Original post

Use a small plastic blade putty knife, will not scratch or damage and stiff enough to pop these guys off, holes or no holes.

POST 14Original post

I've done the small plastic putty knife for center caps with no holes as well and it worked great. Just keep working it gently around the cap until you get enough clearance to fit the knife under the edge of the cap and then pop it off.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks; I do have the two small holes so that makes it a lot easier.

POST 16Original post

Damn, lots of good tips on how to steal our nicely colored wheel center caps.

POST 17Original post

I am just surprised this question made it into TWO pages. My gosh..just pop them off!

POST 19Original post

Obviously, they don't call you "Tool Pants" for nothing!
