Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello Everyone. I've been lurking here while shopping for my first Porsche. Today I made the purchase; a 2002 C4S - Slate Grey w/ Boxster Red interior. Your comments were helpful in making my decision on this car. Thanks! Bill

POST 2Original post

Nice car man. The 996 C4S could be the best looking Carrera ever in my opinion. Good luck with it, your life will never be the same haha

POST 4Original post

Oh man, you don't know what you started. Good looking car. How about some interior shots?

POST 6Original post

Looks like you purchased your beauty from Wesley at Autohaus International in Tempe. Nice folks to deal with, right? I bought my 2002 C2 from them last June-what an outstanding car. Yours sure looks great and I'm sure you will enjoy it. Congrats!!! Roger B.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the kind words. Here's a pic of the interior. Bill

POST 10Original post

Congrats and Welcome to the Forum. Nice looking P-car! Man, that is two recent Newbies that posted pics of their cars. It has been a while since I had to give any Newbies a hard time about NOT posting pics. I think I am going into "Newbie harassing" withdrawal, cuz I'm st... st... starting to st... st... studder!

POST 13Original post

Nice color! I was looking for Black or Slate like yours but ended up with seal grey. Welcome, and Congrats! Oh, before anyone says it...CLEAR CORNERS!

POST 15Original post

Beautiful car and great color combination. Can you fill us in on options, mileage (now why would I care about that? ) and details of the purchase? Congratulations and welcome!!

POST 16Original post

Well done! I've only had mine for about six weeks, now, and I've got to agree with 996CABOVA - it's life-changing. In a good way. See you later. I'm going for a drive....

POST 17Original post

OK there big guy.....breathe deep and repeat after me. I can handle this....I can handle this....Dell is a really nice guy.....M3Killa is not real................ Better now, Right!

POST 19Original post

Very nice, Slate is THE color I would have got on any P car that I ordered new.

POST 21Original post

congratulations! beautiful car. as a new member and owner I know how you feel! enjoy...

POST 22Original post

Sweet looking 4S! Only comment is that your interior does NOT look like boxster red. It looks like either savannah beige (S30) or natural brown (T11) but hard to tell with the color balance on those pics. Your interior color code is listed on the options sticker under the hood. Feel free to post a pic and we can break it down for you

POST 23Original post

Very nice car, welcome! Let's see how long it takes until you start with your first mods. In my case it took about 9 months.

POST 24Original post

Steven - Thanks!!! Yes, I can... (takes a deep breath)... do this... (thinks about breathing)... I CAN do this! I'm not too sure about the "Dell" comment though!

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everyone - I spent a ton of time looking at cars and this is the one that whispered 'take me home'. It's great to hear all your positive comments, it helps me convince myself I made the correct decision. I did buy from Wesely at iAutohaus. It took a while to get the deal done but I think I ended up with the right car for a fair price. Wesely's dealership is quite nice and it's obvious he runs a tight ship. There are better pictures on his site: Aaargh to few posts to post a link...anyway it's at the iautohaus website - fifth from the top in the porsche section under the internet special heading. It really is a boxster red interior, the pics are just kind of washed out. Here's the option list, I don't know what some of it means (like parts for type targa) but this is what came out of the decoder: 09991 manufacture from the exclusive-programme, 139 Seat Heating - Left, 265 996: Self dimming interior rear view mirror with rain sensor, 266 996: Exterior mirror dimming / heat, 288 996: Light washers, 288 Headlight washer, 340 Seat heating - Right, 424 Automatic heating control, 425 Rear wiper, 446 Parts for type "Targa" belonging to stipulated assembly, 446 996: Colored Wheel Crests, 601 Litronic Headlights, 680 Digital Sound, 692 Remote CD changer (6-disc), 939 Soft leather rear, C02 Equipped with catalytic converter, XSC 996: Crest on Headrest So - Thanks again for the comments, it's great to be on-board. Time to start thinking about that first mod... Bill

POST 26 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Almost forgot - just under 26,000 miles

POST 27Original post

And time to join Rennlist. I was prompted into it, so I'm returning the favor. Best, CP

POST 29Original post

congrats and welcome aboard.....nice to have you here..

POST 30Original post

Wow, interesting color combo. I looked at the pics on the website, I'm not sure what I think - charcoal grey head liner with the boxter red. Interesting, did you see it in person?

POST 31Original post

Oh no that put a damned dealer sticker on the back - that's just criminal. There would be a dead dealer if they did that to my car. Idiots!

POST 32Original post

No way that's Boxster Red. Edit: I stand corrected. I apparently never knew that Boxster red is really a rusty-tan color. Anyhow, here's some swatches of Porsche colors. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...icial%26sa%3DN

POST 33Original post

I see it was listed for $58k, how much did you end up paying?

POST 34Original post

Sorry Bill, that is NOT boxster Red. It very well may be Cinnamon (special order) but that is not Boxster Red. What does your option sticker say by your paint code? Here is a pic of your interior from the webstie and a few example (Boxster Red is the first pic and the second is your interior).

POST 35Original post

Agreed. That's why I bought one too. Good Luck with it car, it looks great! G

POST 36 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. The interior color is 'redder' than the pictures would suggest, but you're right - it doesn't look as red as the boxster s pic above. That said, for all I care they can call the color baby barf brown and I would still love the color combo! I paid about $4500 under the asking price. -Bill

POST 37Original post

You got a very good deal. I bought mine in the summer with 17k miles for $56,500. Enjoy the new ride!!!

POST 38Original post

Bill, congrats on the great deal! Like I said, it would be helpful if you posted a pic of the option sticker or just post the paint/interior code list on the sticker that way you will know EXACTLY what you have. As you said, don't care if they call it :barf brown: but it would be nice for you to know if it is in fact that color By the way, I just moved from Vegas and can rec'd shops/etc if you need anything, be glad to help another Las Vegan.

POST 39Original post

i wish i could get one for me. someday perhaps.

POST 40 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the offer Dell. I do most of my own minor maintenance (I was a mechanic in a past life) but it never hurts to start a relationship with a good shop. I heard there is a good independent shop on W. Sahara near the Palace Station but I can't remember the name just now. Here are the option codes. I'm not sure if the interior color is imbedded in here. I'll put up a pic when I get a chance. 968 6764 CO2 XSC 139 265 266 288 340 424 425 446 601 680 692 696 939 00501 N09991 L23F ME M9603 662 G9631 10 Thanks -Bill

POST 41Original post

Sweet Pcar! I like Slate-gray. Enjoy her...Welcome.

POST 42Original post

Bill, the shop is called Carl's Place and it is on Meade. It's bettween Sahara and DI off of Valley View. The owner's name is Tony and he is the past prez of the PCA club chapter and just the nicest guy you could meet as well as very passionate about P-Cars. I entrusted him to ALOT of the work on my car. Very reasonable and great work. Tell I sent you if you every head that way and he'll take care of ya! As for your options sticker, not totally sure but the "ME" after your paint code of Slate (23F) might very well be your interior. The M designation is Boxster Red but not sure what the ME refers to. Either way, I still don't see the Boxster Red in that photo. Nevertheless, still a great color combo and a beautiful car! Enjoy.

POST 43Original post

what a great way to start c4s! congrats- I am jealous

POST 44Original post

The "M" signifies Boxster Red and the "E" signifies Eeeew! So I think Bill is correct, it IS "baby barf brown!" Bill - just kidding! Nice looking P-car. That is a sharp color combination. Enjoy it! Dell - I agree with your earlier post that it looks like Natural Brown leather, but I don't think it is Savanah Beige (which had a lot of yellow/mustard in it). IIRC, wasn't there also a Havanah Beige (or Brown)? It lacked the yellow tint of the Savanah Beige.

POST 47Original post

Did he say $53k? Ooooooffff... (that's the sound of my net worth shrinking)
