Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

May be helping a friend in the near future replace his stock shocks with PSS9's and have not disassembled a 996 before.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Do the rears unbolt thru the engine bay or thru the rear deck from inside. May be helping a friend in the near future replace his stock shocks with PSS9's and have not disassembled a 996 before. Didn't see any DIY writeups from anyone here like we have on the 993 board......any?

POST 2Original post

Inside the car. You can find DIYs on Renntech.org. You'll like working on the 996. I've found it much easier to work on than 993s. Jim

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Jim, this is actually a Turbo 996, but you guys are much more active than the TT board It has a factory roll bar in it, so having to work from the inside will be no pick nick to say the least I'm guessing. Other than the bar, is it an easy removal? I'll check renntech as well, thanks for the link.

POST 4Original post

It is the same for a Turbo or a Carrera. If is a 02'+ then it will have a sub from the Bose audio you have to pull first. You will find removing and reinstalling the rollbar to be the most work in the swap.

POST 5Original post

I have posted a DIY for PSS9s. https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...88#post3458588 I haven't worked on the 993 but from what I can tell the newer cars are much easier to to and harder to screw up.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
