Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does the aluminum on the 996 **** (pic below) come off? Or is it glued on? Any info would be appreciated. I'm looking at buying one that I would need to change a bit... need to get the aluminum off for powdercoating if possible. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

The **** is slip-on with a set screw. Very easy to take off, just lift the horse shoe (sliver part) and un-do the screw.

POST 3Original post

Sorry, I mis-understood, I think the aluminum part is glue-on

POST 5Original post

It should not be glued. They normally put 2-3 cable ties to attach the boot to the ****.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm trying to find out how the aluminum is attached to the ****. I need to remove it for powder coating (want it black, long story). Is it glued?
