Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Last friday I was browsing on cars.com and found a 04 C2 Anniversary. The car had 23k miles and the asking price was $55.9k I inmediately went to see the car and it had the following options: Full leather, Sport exhaust, Bose, heated seats... the car feels awesome.. I called a good friend who was looking for a nice 996 and I basically told him to buy the car, and so he did.. before he bought the car we put it on a lift and saw a small drop of oil coming from the RMS area, I called Porsche and the car has bumper to bumper until 2008. I assumed that they will fix the problem since the car is still under warranty.. Do you guys think it was a good deal? the car had one owner and he traded it in for a Toyota SUV, so the car was in a toyota dealership. the people from the dealer had NO idea what an anniversary 911 was (besides the badges) so they sold it at basically $4k less that the cars's trade in value(according to KBB)... am I a good friend?

POST 2Original post

You're a good friend if you had a FULL PPI done for him at the local dealer or indy as opposed to just "looking" the car over and seeing a drop of oil near the RMS. What about the service history?

POST 3Original post

Sounds like a good deal especially since the car is still under warranty. Take it to a dealer to have a thorough inspection completed and take a look at the oil leak. The RMS issue is really term used to describe various leaks in that area. The fixes are relatively easy and will be covered under warranty. These cars have very few options because they came loaded with many of the options as standard equipment. The option codes are listed on a sticker inside the trunk lid.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I told my friend about the PPI but he refused to do it since the car still has 2 years of full warranty.. the car was very cheap. As I said before tha car was a one owner and Porsche had it serviced (stamps on the manual). It had never been in an accident (acording to carfax) I know it is not a 100% reliable source! Cars like those sell for mid 60's, my friend ended up paying $55.9k .. I think it was a very good deal.

POST 6Original post

I'd say that's an excellent price for a 40th anniversay edition. You're a great friend! At least it wasn't a Ford dealership.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I wish I had the money. I would have bought for myself, I just go my C2 last summer and I would have taken a big hit if I traded in My friend took it this morning to the P-Dealer and they confirmed my observation about the RMS. they will replace it on Friday.. everything else in the car looks exelent they said.. I am glad that now she has a good home.

POST 9Original post

Even with the RMS, given the warranty it's a strong deal. If my experience is any indication, your bud will absolutely LOVE this car...superior performance married to luxury.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

we went out for lunch today and he absolutely loves the car.... this is his 1st 911.. is amazing how only after owning the car for 24hrs one can fall in love so deeply...thats the same that happened to me last summer
