This is not a probability of success.

Here's my '02 for comparison with disco's car - the speed is set into the speedometer, the OBC is set into the tach (confusingly, it's showing average speed in this photo)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I want to know where the digital readout for vehicle speed is located in the 996. I have seen some pictures with the readout at the bottom of the tachometer. Is that true for all 996 model years? If not, where did it start and what model year did it change? I ask because my 2004 GT3 readout is located in the speedometer and not the tachometer and I am in the midst of writing an article about the cars. Thanks in advance.

POST 3Original post

In my prefacelift 996 (99-01) it is below the tach as you see above in disco's picture but in my facelifted 996 (02+) it is below the speedo on the left side. My guess for the reason it has moved is that the 02+ cars have the extensive OBC that uses that space below the tach.

POST 4Original post

What Dell said. Here's my '02 for comparison with disco's car - the speed is set into the speedometer, the OBC is set into the tach (confusingly, it's showing average speed in this photo)

POST 5Original post

Its in the speedometer in my TT. OBC is in the Tach

POST 7Original post

Simon, that's your AVERAGE SPEED? I hope that's on a track, you nut! Incidentally, Disco, you need gas.

POST 8Original post

I'd love to pretend that was just a normal commute through LA, but it was actually my first shot at the Silver State Classic. We averaged 104.9mph, which showed up as slightly more on the OBC.

POST 9Original post

FWIW, I believe it has been moved back into the tach (where it should be) in the 997.

POST 10Original post

My '04 has the digital speed indicator in the analog speedometer. Kevin is correct... in the 997 digital speed indicator is under the tach.
