You don't have a friggin clue what you are talking about as the depreciated value is only 5.27% since I use Mobil Water
Leading evidence: 'Use mobil water' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check previous threads' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. If you check previous threads on these items like brake pads and PSM, there aren't many responses.

Well, the diminished value I quoted you was only for replacing the BATTERY.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

If you wanted to post a 996 topic guaranteed to start a 10 page thread (or elict a "Blue Hell" from Dell)......what would you post???
I'll start.
What is the best viscosity/weight motor oil to use in my 996??
should I go ... C2/C4 | S or Non S | Ceramic Brakes or not | tip or manual | cab or hardtop.
Oh yeah - and the dreaded my 996 just ___ and I am selling it to get a ___ because the p car is a piece of ___.
(please don't seach my posts cause I may fit 1 or 2 of these)
Each of the above is good for 2 to 5 pages, but combined, who knows.
"Hi! My name is Corey, I hate my Porsche, I've driven the crap out of it, rammed it into a wall several times, scratched up every panel and the engine inconsiderately died on me. How much to you think this piece of steaming crepe is worth so that I can sell it on ebay and buy a Corvette?!?!?"
(number of posts = 1, no pictures of car, no introduction)
I am thinking about buying a 996 but i heard of some problems with the engine from some of the earlier models......rms....total engine failure.....can someone give me some advice ???
Good list so far, but here's some more...
Should I buy these parts (wheels, strut bars, seats) on eBay?
My M96 motor just died, therefore all Porsches suck.
What are the best brake pads to use (no usage specified)?
What are the best tires to use (no usage specified)?
How come I can't get a car without PSM?
As far as engine placement, is it better to get it in the rear?
Should I get PASM or not?
Should I get AWD?
Which is more manly/girly (anything)?
Help! My CEL is on, but I won't look up the codes.
Not really good additions. If you check previous threads on these items like brake pads and PSM, there aren't many responses.
How about M3 vs. 996 instead?
1) Should I get the 20" or 22" inch spinners for my GT3?
2) Why didn't the GT3 come in a cab/tip version?
3) Anyone ever heard of Wheelco? They have some nice wheel deals on ebay.
4) Which all-season tires should I put on my spinners?
5) Where can I get a good deal on pinstriping?
Now that I think about it, there probably wouldn't be ANY responses.
Or from the 997 forum, "I need help deciding on a a daily driver, needs to carry 4 people and needs to be under $60K. HELP!"
Or "Thinking of selling the P-car to get a M3. What do you guys think I should do?"
Hello my name is mike and I am 17 years old, I have been saving money all my life and now I have $2000, I always wanted a Porsche and now I think is time for me to have one. I am planning to quit college so I can work full time at JC Penney and buy the car. I already found a '99 996 with very low mileage (120k miles) and it only had 9 owners.. the engine rattles a bit and it leaks oil a lot, the sales man said that is normal. My payments will be 1200 a month and I make 1400 so I calculated that I can live with 200 a month to pay for insurance+rent+food+gas+ maintenance. Also we can not forget about Santa, the tooth fairy and The Eastern bunny who come every year
. by the way I live in a dorm so I have nowhere to park, I was wondering is any of you guys would store my car for free, and I will take a bus every morning to pick up the 911... Please I need your opinion... Thanks a lot
mike
I've been playing a lot of golf this week so I have been on the site mainly in the evenings. Did I show you the latest addition to my car? 'Gant inspired me to add this! I think the "body shop" did a good job of matching the paint.
Nice job. Although, I think you have used that one before.
I figured that you were busy. This time of you we're all running around like headless chickens trying to get stuff finished up before the end of the year. I'm personally looking forward to the start of my Christmas vacation on the 15th.
How old is the average 996 driver?
What is the occupation of the average 996 driver?
What watch do you wear?
What is your income?
Do you finance or own free and clear?
Why are all 996's black or silver?
Can I safely transport my 2 year old in the back of this freaking sardine can that nobody in their right mind would force their kid into?
WHAT IN THE BLUE HELL IS GOING ON IN HERE?!?!?!?!?!
I leave for a weekend of track addiction and come back to this? Gotta admit, helps refresh all the posts that ignited a little "love" over the past months.
I'll leave y'all with this:
Does anybody have any advice on the best way to lauch the car? I am going to the local drag strip this weekend.
Maybe this was taken, but I didn't see it:
My name is Phil G. I'm a great guy and everyone here seems to like me. I have an amazingly beautiful C4S that I don't really drive. I'm thinking about selling.
Definitely wasn't meant to be harsh - Phil seems like a great guy with a car we would all love to have. If you saw my post about potentially selling, you'll realize that maybe it's just a case of "misery loves company" on my part.
No, I saw it. Just giving you a hard time.
I felt bad for you both... nothing worse than a passionless marriage, or a reluctant parting of a first love.
I really can't think of one.
Anyhow, how much do you guys really think I could get for my C4s? I'm thinkin', if it was REALLY clean and REAL, REAL sunny out, I could get about $65k.
Oh ya, I wanted to know if anyone could run a Carfax for me on my car. I lost mine.
Thanks!!!
Steven, yes, installing a new battery will instantly initiate the accelerated depreciation of your car. This is commonly known as the "law of battery drain and diminishing value." Since your new battery is now three years old, I estimate that your car now has a value of approximately 6.27% of the price you originally paid for the car. Hope this helps!
That's Bull... and why this is a contreversy question
You don't have a friggin clue what you are talking about as the depreciated value is only 5.27% since I use Mobil Water
Get your facts straight Tim
Telling 993 owners they don't own a "real Porsche" apparently really really really pisses them off. That or my hands are sooo ugly they don't want me to take my gloves off. It can't be mamma, she's so pretty?
Well, the diminished value I quoted you was only for replacing the BATTERY. Using Mobile Water causes the law of "leaking like a sieve depreciation" to kick in. However, the law of "leaking like a sieve" has a similar, but smaller, impact toward reducing the value of your car than the law of "battery drain" has on your car.
Just to clarify the cumulative impact of both of these on the value of the car, please go back and re-check you calculations because the correct current value is 5.21%, not 5.27% as you had erroneously stated. You need to apply the leaking like a sieve depreciation beginning with the initial in service date of the car and then apply the "battery drain depreciation beginning on the date the replacement battery was installed. I think that is where your calculations went awry.
Glad I could clear that up for you!
