Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The RMS was replaced most recently at the 60K service with the "new one".
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am thinking about selling...
Details:
2002 C2, 6 speed, silver, 70,800 miles.
I bought the car october 2004 from a dealer CPO, with 14xxx miles on it. I intended to autocross, track, etc. Never did it once. My miles are all highway either family travels or commuting. I am the third owner. Here is the thing, From carfax Back when i bought the car) it showed one owner and then a "moderate accident" at approximately 1200 miles, i think the car was two weeks into service. The next owner then had it to about 12500 miles, then went to dealer, the auction (manheim), then to the dealer i purchased it from. I bought as CPO, made sure all was still coverred and it has been no problem. The front fender may have been replaced, but the rear is original, and ther is some distortion of the rough undercoating inside the rear well. The car was fixed beautifully. The accident is not an issue as far as body or mechanicals. Purely a resell issue i feel. The RMS was replaced most recently at the 60K service with the "new one". I just had a new/reman. transmission put it by dealer all CPO. They also replaced Intermediate shaft seal, and verified that RMS IS NOT LEAKING. Had alignment done as well.
Right now, car has no issues other than small puncture in bumper cover, but i have a new to go on. The overall paint condition is great and still looks great with a good cleaning and wax. I also, have GHL installed with original, 4 dunlops on 17 inch wheels (currently installed, rears are brand new, fronts will be good for years), and have a roof transport system to go. Car has clear side markers. Original 5 spoke wheels good as well, some rash, but true. They are mounted with BFG 225/285/
This car is good for someone who wants to drive. I am not selling because of any problems. My kids are 6 and 8 and I feel that i need more room. We just drove in this car from CT to St Louis this past November. It was tight. I have been driving a cayenne for the last twoo weeks, and after getting back into my car tonight, I did not appreciate how small the 996 really is. I love the car and it was my dream to own it, but i need to move on for now. I will definitely get a cab of some sort in the future. I am considerring trading it in, but i have not heard from the dealer as far as what they will offer. It was not porsche dealer.
My CPO, new RMS, new IMS seal, New Clutch, recent(as of today) alignment means nothing to a wholesaler.
What do you guys/gals think?
CPO expires september 8 (i think) 2008 or 100K miles. If i keep the car, I will be close to that by the end of the year. If i wait and sell in the summer or fall, the car will be so close to out of warranty. With a over a year and a half and 30K miles left, I feel it is more desirable. I was thinking with extra wheels, ghl, roof, and warranty, that it should be worth around 35K.
Thanks
Let me ask it this way, what would you pay for this car?
I am looking for honesty here. I am trying to be realistic. Please let me know why you would only pay certain amount. Is it the mileage, history of body work? Is the CPO, and all new gear a positive or a negative.
Thanks
TIA
You do know that you can edit posts, don't you?
Anyway, I just paid around 47k for 35k miles no issues one owner 2003 C2 with 10 months of factory warranty remaining and a phenomenal option package. At that price, I had my pick of cars, so for twice the miles, lots of owners, accident, that wouldn't break 30k in my book.
I'll respectfully disagree w/Bobby. $30k to $47k is a HUGE difference. Maybe Bobby wouldn't want your car at any price, but I think $30k is low.
IMO, your suggestion of around $35k in your other posting is very reasonable. Thanks for being honest about the history too.
Joe
I dunno.. selling a C2 in the winter might be tough.
I think you should just post it in the classifieds and post an official "Selling my car" thread. Doesn't cost anything, and might get you a good lead. Post some good pics of the car to ease any worries about any possible body work.
This time of year and with that many miles, you should be asking $38k and see what happens. You may need to go as low as $33k to sell it. The bumper puncture and other little things may knock a couple hundred off.
There are others on this board that will tell more miles are better (you know who you are), by their thinking, you should get more out of it because you drove it so much, as if it was work you put into the car. Don't pay attention to them.
It sounds like a nice car. I guess timing is everything. Last year when I was in the market $35K would buy you a '99 non-CPO cab with as many miles.
Best of luck.
Thanks for the replies. I am going to do an official for sale. I need to put on the 18's for the photo. I will check to see what i have on my computer.
