Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I like the H&R springs as they not only changed the look of the car but also the stiffness, significantly!
Leading evidence: 'Replace look of the car' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair done' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I have my car all the time at Intersport and just had a pricy coolant, RMS + clutch and waterpump repair done before X-max.

I did also consider changing the shocks but my car has pretty low miles, so I decided to stay with stock.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After some posts I feel it's time to introduce myself and my car and congratulate you to this forum.
I'm Harold from Europe, live since almost 2 years in the US as an Expat and got my first P car in November 2005:
996 C2 Cab MY2000
bought with 27k miles, now 34k
Wimbledon green (as one of you already described: love or hate color)
Mods/changes since I got the car:
- Hardtop
- changed wheels from 17'' to 18''
- painted bumperettes
- larger exhaust end tips
- clear side markers
- H&R springs
- B&M SSK
- CF front strut brace
- K&N CAI
Thanks for the warm welcome. I've a hard time to size down my pics that they can be posted here and at the same time keep the quality up; I guess I'd need to upgrade some software.
As the "winter" here in VA didn't pass by till now, I could have left the hardtop down but I kinda like the look and the feel of an "alibi" coupe until it's really warm in spring, when it will go to storage again.
Harold
I had the mods done by various independent garages.
Got the hardtop on ebay from just around the corner (had to get it re-painted - of course) and asked the body shop (Vienna AutoBody, NOVA) to paint the bumperettes at this occasion.
The wheels are also from ebay (one has some deep scratches but that's ebay); sold mine there for almost the same price (there's a nice demand for 17'' P wheels from 944 owners).
The H&R springs are not too expensive but to get them into a 996 cab took Jon from On Pole Motorsports (MD) quite some time. His offer on labor was much better than the ones from other indies.
K&N CAI and B&M SSK were put in by Intersport in McLean (NOVA).
BTW, does anyone know other good indies in the DC/NOVA area?
I brought my car today to my nice P-Dealer here in NOVA (HBL) as I've a CEL that was diagnosed as cat inefficiency on the left bank by my indie and the first thing he told me: "It'll cost you $180 diagnosis fee to confirm the error code." Such a Stealer-Dealer; however I may have luck as the cats have 8 years / 80k miles warranty, so no fee if they need to be replaced.
Jerset, what part of non-members cannot post articles for sale do you not get?
Do you really want to get banned from this place? You behavior is really pushing the limit.
Jersey996: no issues with the K&N if the CEL is really from the cat system and not from the MAF; will know in some days.
Thanks, but currently no interest for the exhaust parts. Harold
Harold, Welcome to the Porsche Phunny Pharm and Congrats on getting a unique looking P-car! Hold on to your wallet, because these guys will have you spending bundles on money on even more mods!
Oh, and speaking of mods.... you might want to consider aluminum gauge rings and aluminum pedals to "dress up" the interior a little bit. <== See, I TOLD you to hold on to your wallet!
I like the H&R springs as they not only changed the look of the car but also the stiffness, significantly! The car is a weekend toy for me for mainly street but also track use, so I don't mind to loose some comfort and for my taste the US stock springs are too soft. For me the 911 is meant to be a sportscar and not a sedan.
I've never driven a car with pss9 but isn't the EU suspension based on row030? If yes, then I drove a C2 2002 with this suspension which I experienced softer and higher than the H&R springs.
I did also consider changing the shocks but my car has pretty low miles, so I decided to stay with stock.
Springs cost $350 and labor was about $500, so for less than $1k I think it's a good mod. The other suspension options are usually much more expensive.
Harold
I'd love to follow your advice and get the top off "washington dc porsche" but my car is still blocked by "Porsche of Tysons", so I've to vent my anger.
As reported earlier, I've a CEL with error code P0420 "left bank cat inefficiency" and brought my car to this smart dealer which is BTW one of the only 25 dealers in the US that is called a "PREMIER PORSCHE DEALER". I dropped off my car on Wednesday at noon (time pre-agreed on Tuesday). So I called them this afternoon for a second time (they would never get the idea to call me) and asked: "What's about my car man, weekend is coming!" The guy just answered: "Sorry, but we've not been able to look at your car yet, it's still parked on our lot, we'll probably look at it on Monday."
I'm speechless. This never happened to me at a BMW dealer!
I hear you, Harold. It's supposed to be 72 degrees this Saturday and the car is in the shop!
My car is actually at Intersport right now waiting for the new RUF bumper to get back from painting at Autobody of Vienna (I had an accident right before Christmas.)
I stopped going to HBL as soon as my factory warranty ran out. I know that Intersport's rates are not the cheapest but they've always done good by me -- even fixing a problem that HBL wasn't able to fix after trying two times! If HBL doesn't look at your car by Monday you should get it back and drive up the block to Intersport.
Oh guys, it's really beautiful outside, spring in DC and this on an early January weekend. I've only a moonroof on my X3!
I have my car all the time at Intersport and just had a pricy coolant, RMS + clutch and waterpump repair done before X-max. They read the CEL error code and sent me to HBL as the CAT is a warranty issue. I'd never go to HBL directly if I wouldn't need to and next time if I have to go to a Porsche dealer, I'll go to a different one. BTW my hardtop was painted by Vienna Autobody - good work.
Intersport is expensive but does good repairs. I'm always uncertain about their invoices. It happend already 2 times that they had my car for 1,5 days (12 working hours) and charge me 20+ hours in labor!? OK, better than the HBL story, but still strange. If I ask them about it, they always say that they charge standard times for a service or a RMS repair and they are right about that. Everyone charges for the RMS 10 hours labor, so are the "standard times" overstated and does a trained mechanic only need 5 hours for an RMS?
However, I may try someone else next time. I always read good things about
autosportsystems
and
funktionauto
but guess they'll not be cheeper.
