Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'd further recommend to get the CAI installed by a garage which costs about $150.

I've installed K&N filters, but never a cold air intake from them.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi - saw this on eBay today. Anyone have any experience with this intake? I've installed K&N filters, but never a cold air intake from them.

Thanks Glenn
I've had one of these on my car for 8 months with no issues. I did add an additional mount to the bottom of the air scoop and made an additional bracket for the left side of the heat shield when I first installed it. I gained 22 rwhp from this intake in combination with a Fabspeed exhaust on the dyno. Many of the older 996's (3.4l cars) with the older style MAF had issues with their MAF sensors with it.
I don't think you need to stay clear. A CAI is a good and relative cheep mod but you need to be aware that it might cost more than $250. I've the K&N but would now spend a little more for the EVO as the filter seams to be in a better position; but that's a question of taste.
The MAS that can break and cause the CEL can be seen as a consumable and can easily be replaced (about $400 - the replacement part is a new >02 part and obviously better than the pre-facelift MAS). I'd further recommend to get the CAI installed by a garage which costs about $150.
Even with a damaged MAS the CAI is the cheapest performance mod for your car. Option 2 chip-tuning is about $1k and option 3 exhaust mod is more expensive too.
I love the sound of the CAI and believe (subjective impression) that I've a better trottle response with lover RPM now.
Nah - it's a piece of junk. You've got a 50% chance it will blow your MAF, in which case it will cost you more than the EVO, which is the route you should go.
... as I said, I agree that the EVO seams to be the better choice, but be aware that also the EVO can blow your MAFS (MassAirFlowSensor) as reported on the forum.
