Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

When I put my 17" wheels and snow tires on this fall, I cleaned my wheels and put Rejex on the outside and Future floor polish on the inside.

I use Future on snow shovels and snowblowers and it works really well so I thought I'd give it a try on my winter wheels.

I put the car up on Jack stands, and depending on how grimy it is, I will sometimes use a pressure washer, but mostly I use Simple Green in a spray bottle, and then wipe it off with cotton shop rags.

I use tire dressing on the black plastic aero covers and all of the other black pieces.

There are 2 ways you can paint them, one is to take them off, give them a good cleaning, including the internal cooling vanes, or just re-paint them on the car.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Decided to use the bottle of ReJex that Santa gave me on my rims... Gave the rims a good cleaning first and also took them off the car. Following find some before and after pics as well as some pics of the rotors, etc. There is some rust visible when I took the wheel off... Is this normal wear and tear for a spring 2003 car with 33K? Should I clean this and if so, how? I sthis n
Also, the wheel bolts are kind of dirty... tried cleaning them, but this is as good as it gets... any suggestions? The strange thing is that the 'wheel lock bolt' is the rusty one... any way I can treat that one?
Well, all in all a fun after Xmas project... got to use the ReJex (excited to see how good it works over time) and I got to use my new torque wrench!

Sand off the old paint. It's very soft and will come right off with 180 grit paper. Prime and paint with any High Temp Silver paint.

Dutchie,
No, you don't need to take any screws out. Just sand the old paint off with 180 grit and sand as much as you can off the lug bolts. Tape up the lug threads and the brake calipers. Prime and paint...

I highly recommend a deep cleaning of your Porsche's underside once a year.
I give the underneath of the Orient Express a good cleaning in the fall, and re-coat the brake rotor hats as well.
There are 2 ways you can paint them, one is to take them off, give them a good cleaning, including the internal cooling vanes, or just re-paint them on the car. The amount of effort to mask the calipers, hub, etc. is probably more effort than to just take off the caliper and pull the rotor.
I paint the rotor hat with grey primer, and the edge of the rotor with silver hi-temp paint. No need to mask the surface of the rotor, the first time you brake, the overspray will be taken right off.
Here are some pictures from my recent cleaning at 50K miles.
While you are in there, don't forget to polish your muffler cans as well. They shine up real nice.
Dutchie - if you are going to spray paint the "top hats" MAKE SURE you cover the entire car with a drop cloth (a light weight plastic one will do nicely) because the overspray will become air born and land on the car. If you don't take two minutes in the beginning of the process to cover the car, you will spend 3 to 4 hours later removing the overspray. Don't ask me how I know this!
Heh, you guys are so ****. The rotors in the first pic still have rust on them and it looks no different to me. All that work to make the brakes clean and the effect is so marginal. Just shine the rims. I would rather eat my arm. This of course is my opinion

I use tire dressing on the black plastic aero covers and all of the other black pieces. The muffler cans get a polishing with metal polish using an orbital polisher. Wheels and calipers get a coating of Rejex.
Keep in mind that this car has only been driven in the rain 3 times, none of which was intentional. It was clean to start with, and that makes the cleaning maintenance much easier than trying to restore an undercarriage from a daily driver.
I show the car in Concours and it won the PCA Zone 7 Overall High Points Award 2 years in a row, the Palo Alto Concours Class award 2 years, and the PCA Parade Concours class award this year.
