I was able to get it back onto the clip that it is attached too, others have just used zip ties and not mess with trying to put it back on the clip.

Suggestion · Original poster

Went to change my fuel filter and I could not figure out how to get it out of the coolant piping tunnel, figured you have to drop the tranny mount.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Went to change my fuel filter and I could not figure out how to get it out of the coolant piping tunnel, figured you have to drop the tranny mount. Tiptronic by the way.

POST 2Original post

If you become a paying member of renntech.org you can research the do it yourself (DIY) articles. They have one on the fuel filter removal. They are very helpful. Good Luck

POST 3Original post

Second Renntech.org as well. First place I contributed $$$ for a great resource! Loren has a fantastic tech site in Renntech and one that has saved me serious $$$ of the years.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yes I need to look into this

POST 5Original post

You can reach your hand from the back of the tunnel, over the coolant lines and fish it out...

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That is what I figured, I should of just pulled off the other under pan and looked but the manual did not mention pulling both pans to get to it.

POST 7Original post

yes, it takes some patience but it can be done by guiding it through the back. Remove the plastic panels from the back for easier access.

POST 8Original post

I just did this a few weeks ago, as stated above you need to remove both the center and rear panels to get access to it, and then it is a long reach through the "tunnel" to get it out. Once you figure out a good way to get your arm in there, it really isn;t too bad. I was able to get it back onto the clip that it is attached too, others have just used zip ties and not mess with trying to put it back on the clip. Check out Renntech.org for more info. Gator911's post over there were a big help to me in getting most of the items on the 60,000 mile check completed on my own. Thanks gator911!
